Holiday Makeup goes for gold as seen at Christian Dior Spring 2014

Holiday Makeup goes for gold to help you radiate holiday cheer Besides the thoughtfully precise and utterly modern creations making their way down the Spring 2014 Christian Dior runway, the collections beauty routine most certainly caught our eye for party makeup ready for holiday fetes. >>MORE: Expert beauty tips for everyday life By covering both the lid and entire eye area with solid gold, and then contrasting it with a swipe of liquid liner in an unexpected and offset hue, the effect was striking to say the least. Backstage at Christian Dior Sure, maybe taking gold all the way to the brow isn't money in the bank, but on a runway, at times anything goes and need we say it,

Printemps Paris Holiday Windows- Dior & Marion Cotillard, absolument!

Printemps Paris Holiday Windows
Retail Remedy: The world of Dior for the holidays. Richard Nahem continues to bring us his tour of  Paris Holiday Windows I adore the Printemps windows this year but I have a slight problem with them. As fun and imaginative as they are, they symbolize promoting a brand rather than the spirit of Christmas. The windows are devoted to the Dior brand and their logo and name is bluntly splashed everywhere. As much as they appealed to me, I think tiny tots and kids will be disappointed. >>MORE: Holiday Style  and Dior Printemps Paris Holiday Windows Enough of my grandstanding and back to why I LOVE the windows. They harken back to the original Dior New Look from 1947 with 74 handcrafted dolls/poupettes dressed in Dior haute couture and are hand

Raf Simons Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall 2012

For Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall 2012 Raf Simons' might not have unveiled the kind of magic that led John Galliano to catapult the storied house back into the stratosphere, but nevertheless, his debut collection certainly caught our eye. And indeed, it is clearly a new day at Dior. From the serenity of the floral filled room to the steadied pace of the models on hand, its clear that at first glance this was a remarkable palette cleanser, albeit a masterfully rendered and conceived one at that. Precise, clean architectural and assured where the first things that came to mind... >>MORE: Runway Coverage Opening with a series of crisp if not sterile tuxedo suiting that was svelte and appropriately glamorous, the

Dior Goes Neon Pop with Anselm Reyle for Dior Collection

Anselm Reyle for Dior
Ohhh, how we quiver with gorgeous anticipation whenever we open correspondence from the House of Dior. When it includes the fantastic melding of art meets glam, our pointy toe pumps click to attention. German artist Anselm Reyle collaborated with the iconic French fashion house on a new capsule collection of bags, shoes, costume jewelry, sunglasses, small leather goods, scarves, and beauty products for the Anselm Reyle for Dior collection. All feature bright, color saturated & fluorescent camo prints based on the artist's freestyle interpretation to shake up "the codes of the mythical Avenue Montaigne Couture House, which offered all its savoir-faire to serve his imagination." Anselm Reyle reinterpreted the Lady Dior and Miss Dior handbags with a wild and chic dose of street chic that has a sense of graphic

House of Dior Homage Exhibition for Paris Fashion Week

Retail Remedy: Le Bon Marché in Paris showcases the Eternellement Dior We know how much Richard Nahem loves the Paris that he shares in his walking tours, and he will be tipping FocusOnStyle during Paris Fashion Week. Designer John Galliano has been certainly in the news this week for his rather horrific alleged comments caught on a cell phone video. I've been interviewed a bit for my opinion on this and, based on what I have seen thus far, personally support the House of Dior in its termination of the designer as its creative director in the wake of this situation. You can see the video on The Sun, here. Le Bon Marche Rive Gauche, a major Parisian department store

We All Need Some! The Costume Institute’s, Camp: Notes on Fashion at the Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Costume Institute’s spring 2019 exhibition, Camp: Notes on Fashion at the Metropolitan Museum of Art
Without a little twinkle, some pizzazz, that certain something that makes us smile, or some camp in our lives it would all be so very boring. I visited the Costume Institute’s spring 2019 exhibition, Camp: Notes on Fashion at the Metropolitan Museum of Art earlier.  It certainly added a sparkle to my day and will do the same for you. Here's a sneak peek of the exhibition (photos do not do it justice) before tonight's Met Gala, co-hosted by Lady Gaga and Harry Styles, sponsored by Gucci and spearheaded by Ana Wintour. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Sharon Haver▪️Modern Business (@focusonstyle) It's hard to pick favorites, but I love Liberace's head to toe diamonte, Bjork's swan dress,

Oscar Best Dressed 2017- Make Celebrity Style Work In Your Wardrobe!

Last night's Oscar Best Dressed stunners certainly played by the K.I.S.S. (keep it simple stunning) principle of memorable celebrity style. Sure there were plenty of heavily embellished gowns, beading, draping and opponent fabrications, I'd bet that each of the more ornate gowns were a testament to incredible craftsmanship. But what happens when the dress is  fussy, the hair is fussy, makeup is heavy, the wearer gets lost in all the extras and becomes forgettable, particularly on TV where the more graphic the appearance, the better it stands out. Simple and Clean Lines Rule... Then you have the visual stunners that you can't forget the next morning- Viola Davis in striking red, Halle Berry and that hair, Charlize Theron in a

Inspiration overload: Fantasy pieces from Paris Couture Fashion Week … don’t mind that it takes place in Rome

I have a special treat for you. It's total indulgence. And for me, a super sweet spot.  I've always had a thing for Rome. As a little girl in Brooklyn, I imagined myself living in Italy back in the 50s and 60s during the time of black and white movies, anything Fellini, red sports cars, chic black dresses worn with merry widows underneath, sharp eyeliner, Marcello Mastroianni, elegant yet wild parties, and everything Rome in all its decadent, gorgeous, crazy glory. Truth be told, decades later I did have a lot of fun in the Eternal City once I was old enough to visit time and time again. But I digress. So anything that combines the breathtaking backdrop of Rome with fantasy and fashion just
