In the final Ready to Wear collection that he designed, Lee Alexander McQueen continued to experiment with ideas from previous collections with inspirations ranging from Byzantine art and Old Master paintings to the carvings of Grinling Gibbons, reports WWD.com

The collection of 15 works of fashion art were all cut “on the stand” by McQueen in the weeks before he took his own life. The collection was presented solemnly in the gilded salon at the headquarters of Francois Pinault.

McQueen president Jonathan Akeroyd told WWD that retailers will be invited to buy a showroom collection spanning about 160 pieces.
