The ongoing battle to find the right hat.
Qualify...
I like hats.
At best they are form and function in one neat little package - parts of a greater whole. Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire, Inez and Vinoodh, Cookies and Milk.
I am a major proponent of the humble knit ski cap - preferably picked up at Duane Reade for $3 on a freezing night when the cashmere Marc Jacobs beret thing I’m wearing seems over-affected for the circumstances.

This entry is part 2 of 1 in the series Venice Window Shopping
Or, how I spent my summer vacation, Part Due…
Venice is quite the chic shopping mecca with Gucci, Fendi, Prada, Giorgio Armani, Zegna, Hermes, Chanel, and almost any luxury brand that you can think of in the vicinity of the ubiquitous Carnevale masks and Murano millifiore glass chotseka tourist shops.
Yes, there are some rather major contemporary glass shops thrown in the mix, but it is heaven for the figurine junkie!

This entry is part 1 of 1 in the series Venice Window Shopping
Or, how I spent my summer vacation, Part Uno:
The family and I (pooch included) were lollygagging about in Venice for a bit. In true Italian style– as I know it– everything is beautiful but doesn’t necessarily work as expected.
The loft apartment we rented was amazing: Brand new renovation in an Old Venice building with a fab rooftop deck and view, super clean and modern Italian style with attention to every detail, except completion.
Wow, that sounds like our construction projects sans the view!

Bright Lights and Minis, Oh My!
One of the hottest trends this season has been far and away the bold use of color and the latest collection by LA-based twin designers Kym and Alexis McClay have definitely hit that nail on the head. Their line Naven, whose name comes from a city in Ireland where their family is from, is a collection of gorgeous and absolutely covetable pieces.
Their bold use of neon yellow, hot pink, lime, purple, and royal blue is definitely what grabs your attention first but upon further inspection I was pleased to find that the construction and detail was absolutely impeccable.
