Hometown Style: The 90's Are Back in Los Angeles, fashion that is!

Volcom loves the 90's

Volcom Does Not Disappoint …

There's a breath of fresh air to the LA scene thanks to the true fashion feast in store at the launch of Volcom's new denim collection, The event was held at the LA Volcom store and hosted by NYLON Magazine.

The looks were a combination of 90’s grunge and 50’s greaser with tomboy pieces mixed in. My favorite pieces had to be the shoulder studded jean vest, the cream studded motorcycle jacket, and of course the tie-dye skinnys.

Stud details were everywhere from jackets, to jeans, to shoes and really added that tough ‘Tank Girl’ vibe. Colored denim also made a huge appearance with cropped vintage wash vests and lightweight striped skinny jeans. The denim was super lightweight, soft, and featured great details such as tilted pockets and intricate stitching.

While the clothes were amazing on their own, stylist Dani Stahl really brought these looks together. Pairing them with in-your-face jewelry by Noir and combining plaids with florals with tie dye. There were also a few Holiday pieces in the mix such as the sequined slouchy beret that I already have on my shopping list.

What I also found to be so great was the combination of slouchy boyfriend shirts and cardigans with the many fitted sheer printed tees. This past year, the shredded legging was in and Volcom one-upped that with the shredded jean. Super distressed and super tight, I can see these on fashionistas from East to West.

Volcom also decided to bring back the overall with a short cuffed version. A little bit tomboy and a little bit sexy make me rethink the idea that overalls were meant for the fashionably challenged.

Another big hit was the boyfriend cardigan with a grey and lime checkerboard print, truly a show-stopper. For those of you who want more than just a standard denim jacket, try the Killer Instinct jacket that features faded denim with black leather sleeves. Or how about a simple cardigan amped up with mini Volcom logos burned out throughout?

All in all, if you want to add a punch of color or some edgy rocker wear to your wardrobe, Volcom has you covered. -Elizabeth in L.A.
