Rachel Zoe Fashion Tips - What She Hates, What You Want

We snagged a call with the celebrity stylist for her fall fashion tips and sexy style advice

On the phone with Rachel Zoe...

Rachel Zoe, the celebrity stylist turned multi-media mogulina, got on the phone to promote Season 3 of her Bravo reality show, “The Rachel Zoe Project” that premieres on Tuesday, August 3rd at 10pm ET/PT.

BTW: She did not die nor go bananas on the conference call.

We love the allure of the red carpet-- but come on-- having great style is not only about the fantasy but having a wardrobe that works for you in your life. So we asked Rachel what she thinks YOU should have in your everyday wardrobe this fall.

Rachel Zoe’s’s Top Five Fashion Fave’s for looking on trend this fall (plus, a bonus tip):

“I think that sexiness should be in the subtleties, says Rachel.”

“I think that sexiness should be in the subtleties, says Rachel.”

1. Some sort of kind of chunky knit sweater that you can kind of throw over everything.

2. A very classic, very tailored tuxedo jacket.

3. I think the perfect leather jacket; whatever suits your body type.

4/5. A trench coat and a black patent pump is always a must.

Bonus Item: “If you’re a little more daring do an ankle boot because it’s not going to go out of style. We just keep seeing them season after season at this point.”

We know that her signature involves major accessories, bold statement pieces, and her love of vintage costume jewelry. For you, Rachel suggests, “Over the knee, thigh-high boots. Very large statement necklaces and big cocktail rings, things like that.” Yes, you can nab some budget-friendly versions with her Rachel Zoe line at QVC or via her picks at Piperlime.

What what to avoid? What wrecks havoc on someone’s style? What are Rachel Zoe’s pet peeves?

Her hates are our hates, “I think that sexiness should be in the subtleties, says Rachel.” “I don’t think that overt sexiness is something that reads very classy. I don’t think that people should wear dresses two sizes too small. I just think that sexiness is better left to the imagination. It’s just more tasteful.”

Season 3 of “The Rachel Zoe Project” will bring more style tips and fashion excitement. The first episode happens to have her most memorable photo shoot to date. “It was quite challenging because we had some moving props. Definitely a first for me in my career but yet I think we made one of the most iconic photographs. So it was well worth it.”
