Swarovski designer Fashion Week collaborations are just the Red Carpet sparkle that you may want now
Swarovski designer Fashion Week collaborations are just the Red Carpet sparkle that you may want now
It's crystal clear that there will be some very big sparkle ahead in your fashion future.
The crystal collage trend from spring moves forward to fall 2010 and it's interpretations are boundless thanks to a collaboration with Swarovski and a dozen top designers during New York Fashion Week.
“For Fall, I was thinking about the tension between Disco and Punk, and a woman who is classic but has a penchant for Baroque adornment. We’ve used shades like ‘Jonquil’ and ‘Dorado’ in very modern insets and collars where the sparkle is veiled in chiffon. Swarovski’s modern approach to creating crystals in the most inspiring colors and shapes was the starting point to enhancing the idea of elegant rebellion in a youthful and unexpected way.” - Phillip Lim
The one thing that we are sure of is that these are by no means the symmetrical pavé sparkle that you associate with crystal past.
The new crystals are unexpected art pieces to add depth and dimension to each garment.
With designers like Prabal Gurung, Alexander Wang, Peter Som, Zac Posen, Halston, Rodarte, Yigal Azrouel, Julian Louie, Joseph Altuzarra, Ohne Titel, Manolo Blahnik, Phillip LIm (right) Proenza Schouler on shoes, and Graeme Armour adding their special touch to crystallized Swavorski the results are daring and as individual as the designer's themselves.
Since Oscar fashion is on everyone's mind, we thought this would be the perfect time to do a fall runway recap of some future sparkle that you may just see on a red carpet celebrity this weekend.
Or to use as an inspiration point for your personal Red Carpet moment. Glamorous style happens wherever you make it happen!
Kate and Laura Mulleavy, Rodarte NYFW fall 2010
“Fall 2010 explores the idea of sleepwalking. The idea of a dream state, or in-between state,
guided the development of the collection. Swarovski crystal is used to help illuminate the
collection by creating dappled moonlight throughout the show.” - Kate and Laura Mulleavy, Rodarte
“The overall focus this season is on beautiful silhouettes electrified with Swarovski fractured crystals and beaded embroidery, that serve to toughen and empower each piece while maintaining a classic and timeless appeal.” - Prabal Gurung
Peter Som & Swavorski for Fall 2010
"Working with Swarovski is always a thrill - The opportunity to incorporate Swarovski Crystallized Elements into the collection brings a heightened level of shimmer
that only Swarovski cvan do." - Peter Som
“Swarovski crystal pearls are taken out of their ‘ladylike’ context, and are transformed into graphic patterns and bold accessories.” - Alexander Wang
Zac Posen - Swavorski collaboration for fall 2010
Zac Posen with Manolo Blahnik Swavorski collaboration for fall 2010
"Swarovski's relationship with Zac Posen began in 2002, leading to a long-standing collaboration with the designer. For Fall/Winter 2010, footwear designer Manolo Blahnik incorporated Swarovski crystals into ornate creations for Zac Posen." -- Swavorski
Yigal Azrouel & Swavorski
“It was important for me to think about designing something totally different with Swarovski. The idea of applying a delicate and pristine Swarovski crystal to a rough, distressed leather jacket or a gauzy, draped t-shirt is counterintuitive, and made the collaborative process that much more interesting.” – Yigal Azrouel
