Dear Sharon:I am a junior in high school and while searching the web, I saw your page related to Breast Cancer Awareness Month. My mother passed away from the illness two and a half years ago after a 12-year battle. My grandmother died of ovarian cancer and I have many other relatives, friends and neighbors who have been affected by cancer- especially breast cancer.

This marks the 16th anniversary of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and there are many ways to rally for the cause and promote early detection. NBCAM.org (1-800-221-2141) offers a free 88-page guide to promoting the developing and personalizing breast cancer awareness campaigns in your community.

You can also contact organizations directly, such as the American Cancer

Tony & Tina will donate 50% of the profits from sales of "Cura" lipgloss- named after the Roman Goddess of Health and Healing- to NY Fashion Cares to benefit breast cancer; exclusively at Sephora.com through October and then rolls out to other resources.

With the purchase of specific Pink Ribbon Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Estee Lauder, and Origins products, a donation will be made to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, established in September 1993 by Evelyn H. Lauder to fund clinical and genetic research into the causes and treatment of breast cancer. Additionally, Yahoo! Goes Pink in support of Estee Lauder's Global Landmarks Illumination Initiative -- the illumination of worldwide landmarks in pink lights to raise awareness about breast cancer.

2001 Calendar for a Cure is a charitable foundation begun in 1999 to help in the fight against breast cancer. Their mission, through fundraising, is to allow women and families the ability to make informed decisions with regards to treatments and opportunities that exist for them. All proceeds from this project will be used to fight breast cancer and help create awareness about the available options.
