Polls Are Closed: Little Monsters could not care less about all those iconic references

I found myself having a lunch meeting in Rockefeller Plaza today- about 18 hours before Lady Gaga is to have her outdoor concert on the TODAY Show tomorrow morning. There was a line of intensely devoted fans-- from teens to families-- that already went down the street. Mind you that it’s boiling hot outside and camping out on a Midtown Manhattan street overnight and then some is not the most glamorous experience, even if you are under a makeshift tent.

She was the best dressed fan on line who assured me that going to the bathroom would not be a problem on her overnight wait as that was really bathing suit

For me, Lady Gaga’s costumes are often a bit déjà vu. I love when she teams up with Giorgio Armani or other design masters for something fresh and fantastical, but more often than not her costumes-- on and off stage-- are a mélange of the kooky glam years on either side of 1980.

I wonder if her infatuated fans get the iconic references or even care. The answer is NO, at least from my very random survey to the Little Monsters waiting in the heat.

Madonna the Mommy has the same dress concerns as you and I

Last week we announced that Madonna's Material Girl Collection is the ultimate Mommy and Me clothing line. Now we have a video of Madonna the Mom talking about what it's like to have a very stylish child.

Her concerns and proud mom moments sound pretty much the same as most parents who live in an urban environment and happen to have a rather sophisticated kid-- it's rather cute and endearing.

Material Girl clothing launches at Macy's on August 3 and Madonna talks about hoping to get a Material Girl float for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Marilyn Monroe beyond skin deep... does the fascination ever die?

We find this piece of trivia rather amazing. Sex kittens from Madonna to Lindsay Lohan have all done their best to pay homage to Marilyn Monroe, but you cannot top this fan-atic bit of pop history.

Keep this tidbit in mind in case you ever think you may become uber famous and want your scion to prosper or you're gearing up for an episode of "Hoarders."

If imitation is really the sincerest form of flattery than Madonna cannot wipe that smile of her face!

From cone bras, to half-naked men, some religious references that will surely wreck havoc, the token rosary, a little s & m'y, papa won't preach, there is plenty of sex in the Madonna style kind... we're exhausted from counting the Madonna stylistic, musical, and imagery references in Lady's Gaga's new video.

But if your parents wouldn't let you watch Madonna back then in the 90's, you'll probably just love "Alejandro".

From Mommy Madonna to Glam Madonna, her fashion sense cannot be topped

Just about every Tom, Dick, and Harry starlet has managed to stick her name on some fashion line.

But who wants to look like a cheesy reality star anyway?

Particularly one who's name you won't even remember in five years... yes, I'm old enough to remember how quickly we can forget.

I'd rather be inspired by someone who has accomplished something in her career and who continues to look amazing through the chapters of her life, on her terms.

You may not always be a Madonna fan but you would be kidding yourself not to acknowledge the marketing genius behind her iconic personal brand.

The woman knows how to transform the most basic concepts and weave them into something magical and distinctive.

Take for instance, going bare-faced when walking with her son. A well-cut coat, a distinctive scarf, a good bag, and some fierce sunglasses to cover up the no makeup look take her from schleppy mommy to chic mommy in a flash.
