The ultimate shopping guide for custom clothing in Hội An, Vietnam

Alix and Colin are almost midway through their trip around the world.

Their global backpacking adventure to all points exotic took a very chic turn when they stopped off to sample the custom clothing and shoes from the tailors and cobblers in Hội An, a city located in the South Central Coast of Vietnam.

According to Wikipedia, in 1999, the old town of Hoi An was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO as a well-preserved example of a Southeast Asian trading port of the 15th to 19th centuries, with buildings that display a unique blend of local and foreign influences.

Uber futuristic, very slick, the show could have been an action movie, heavily structured garments and lots of technical cut outs, very dark, mostly black, but behind it all was this calming Zen aura that softened the collection.

A warm colored presentation of feminine pieces mixed with some edge and balanced with an air of innocence best describes the Rebecca Taylor fashion show for fall 2009.

I picture these pieces on a cute, mousy girl at an art gallery opening sipping red wine, a little bit quirky, very creative and intuitive, she stares at the art with question but really she is wondering why Wendy ever left Neverland.

Love Custo!!!

I realize Custo Barcelona clothing may come off as ridiculous to some, it makes no sense, but that is what is to love about it!!! Wild patterns, a million colors all at once, texture mixing and playing no where near the rule book - fashion on acid - doesn’t that sound amazing?!

Thuy- Fall 2009 Collection, video below…

Fashion is not always taken at face value. Sometimes you need to give it a bit of time and understand that taste is very subjective. I’m more of a realist than trendy fabulousista when it comes to flattering silhouettes.

Ok, I won’t lie, my first impression of this collection was not a good one, but by the end of the show I acknowledged it means absolutely nothing if I personally don’t like it, but it means everything it I can look past my taste and see what has been created and the whether it has been created well.

This line was indeed well made.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week- Lela Rose, Fall 2009 Collection…

Finally a show with color to keep our recession spirits up and remind women that party attire should indeed be fun.

There is also a fantastic play of texture - chunky woven tweeds with a hint of metallic, shiny silks mixed with sequins, flowing silk chiffon as well as stiff and shiny satin.
