Paris Chic Bicycles Are Rather Fun and Utalitarian

Somehow we would like to believe that the bikes in Paris are rather tzujed up glam affairs. But, no. More often than not, Parisians go for practicality rather than preciousness when it comes to getting around the city– always with a dash of French chic style, of course! Richard Nahem, observes…I recently started taking photos of bicycles around the city. They have a certain charm which is hard to describe. From the slick racers that are used in the Tour De France, to the beat up but tough spray painted bicycles to the delivery ones with baskets to the gray, to the utilitarian Velib rentals, they are a vital form of transport to get around the much trafficked rues of Paris. Not to mention that with the recent strikes they were the only reliable way to get from here to there

Jean Paul Gaultier Furniture Sweetens Up Paris Elle Decor Suite

Love the crazy way Jean Paul Gaultier put his signature nautical stripes on wacky, cool furniture. For the last two years Elle Decor has selected a fashion designer to decorate the former apartment of Jacques Carlu at the Cite de Architecture. This year the chosen is Jean Paul Gaultier, proceeding Christian Lacroix and Martin Margiela. Jean Paul Gaultier has brought his usual whimsical and sometimes kitschy style to the 2,400 sq. ft. space atop the museum.

Looking Like Your Dog Is So Chic in Paris

My Dog, Myself: Paris Pooches… they’ve got the look!Only in Paris when you look like your dog, it will be chic!I know I will get an argument by dog lovers from other places (particularly from Sharon and her love of French poodles), but I say no one loves their dogs more than Parisians.I back up my statement with the fact that dogs are allowed almost anywhere in Paris- at the butcher, the baker, restaurants, the metro, parks, art galleries, food shops, boutiques, and dog grooming salons.>> SHOP: Need to be discreet? Brigitte Bardot Bag for Lancel is Eco Chic and Controversial

“Kate Moss for Longchamp was so five minutes ago as we dig further back in It Girl sex symbols to go forward in It BagsLancel is reverting back to the glory days of the iconic French sex symbol Brigitte Bardot with its launch of Le Brigitte Bardot handbag. Known as the provocative “woman child” who captured 1950′s Saint Tropez and the world with her so carefree, sexy teased blonde hair, heavily lined cat eyes, and sometimes wearing not much else… well, the bikini and gingham have her to thank for a rise in popularity.”

Printemps Paris Alice in Wonderland store windows salute fashion and whimsy

“When we look through the looking glass, we see the Eiffel Tower.Alice in Wonderland mania has taken Paris by storm! Printemps is lighting up the the dreary, gray winter with their delightfully whimsical and chic Alice in Wonderland windows. The department store is celebrating the release of the new Tim Burton version of “Alice in Wonderland,” starring Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter and Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, with a very French fashion touch.Free rein was given to a group of top international designers to use their imagination to create their own Alice dress. Haider Ackermann, Manish Arora, Chloe, Ann Demeulemeester, Christopher Kane, Nicholas Kirkwood, Maison Martin Margiela, Bernhard Willhelm, and the late Alexander McQueen (we mourn the recent passing of this creative genius and most provocative designer of our time) have done a fabulous job in making Alice current and oh, so chic.”
