Jessica Biel Lip Watch!

Runway to real way can be impossible to pull off for many beauty trends. The crazy, vivid lipstick trend is so hot for summer and does look fab when on a runway, in a fashion editorial, or when executed just the right way— as in the gorgeous flush of pink on Jessica Biel, pictured here.

I have to admit a strange bias as to not loving baby pink lips. Mostly in that they remind me of an old childhood friend who no matter how she tried to look chic rather than cheap and how the years went by, she would stick to her burnt toast tan, streaked blonde hair, and goopy lips in a shade of pink usually reserved for grandma’s petunias. She had the too-too look down pat and her nickname was Spread ‘Em — not for any interest in partaking in police officer training. Get the picture?

Pink, coral, or fuchsia lips can look beautiful and modern when you
a) are fresh-faced and edgy enough to pull anything off,

b) have not stayed at the farm too long,

c) keep the rest of your makeup and hair on the minimal side, and
d) find a shade with a hint of underlying brown in it to look more natural and less garish with your skin color.

Resist overdoing it and aim for a bright pop of lip color with an otherwise natural-looking face (that includes a strange fake tan color) and go out and have some fun. A tube of lipstick is a cheap chic beauty investment to knock yourself out with for some summer fun.

If you are game to try a more exotic lipstick, try a make-up lesson at your favorite beauty counter first.
