Jason Wu once again seduced us with a winning collection and flawless make-up with his Spring 2013 outing.

Jason Wu S/S 2013 sees the designer expand his repertoire with noirish elegance while citing Helmut Newton as a touchstone for inspiration. Quite a departure indeed, but in his hands, the notion was strictly polished. The make-up and hair was flawless and unmistakably refined, from the red lips to the played-up eyes. It didn’t look heavy… which made for a pitch-perfect duet. Elegance meets discreet provocation.

Pamela Roland brought back the early Sixties and the cat-eye for Spring 2013! Pamela Roland created the perfect statement with sweet, early 60’s silhouettes complemented with dramatic cat-eye liner, false lashes, and a pale lip. And admirably, the look was far from retro.

What these two designers had in common in the make-up department was that it was all about the upper eyelid and no powder or pencils on the lower lid.

If these trends continue throughout New York Fashion Week, we will be seeing glamorous takes on the streets this fall considering the week started out with makeup that was pretty blah for my personal taste.

Unfortunately at Tadashi Shojo, the make-up team must have been asleep.  Their girls walked the runway in little more than a dusting of powder. Sitting front row at the Nicholas K show, the oversized sunglasses still couldn’t hide the play on big eyes and lite lips.

BCBG Max Azria

BCBGMaxAzria added a color stain to the lips and played up the eyes.  The whole look was very Charlie’s Angels. Looks like these are a throw backs to the 70’s which wasn’t the best decade for make-up looks.
