Liz Hurley - Boobage Overboard

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Elizabeth Hurley and Her Amazing Exploding Boobage…

We are not in the editorial vain of dissing celebrities or drooling over their every move. As a matter of fact, we find that rather unexciting and mundane.

However, every once in a while a photo smacks us down like a dustbin full of tabloid pulp.

This time, it is by way of the Daily Mail and it’s coverage of Liz Hurley and her exploding boobage– right out of her fuchsia dress! Liz, you are gorgeous. For godssake, put those girls back in where they belong.

But if her cleavage was less displayed, would we be writing this? Hummm…

Publicity is a mighty burden.

Readers take note: Please do not try this at home… tacky, tacky, tacky.

Feeling old, tired, and bored? Go see Madonna for a pick-me-up!

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Boost Me Up, Mama Madonna!

Sometimes my inbox is full of mail from women thinking they are too old or afraid to make a change in their wardrobe or personal style in fear of not dressing age-appropriate. Some of these poor courage-deprived chickadees are even in their thirties!!!

Well, before you sit home and feel sorry for yourself any longer, or just want to have fun, I urge you to go out and see Madonna, now roaming the world on her Sticky & Sweet tour.

I really get disgusted with every other review commenting on her age… well, it’s not age, honey, it’s vitality!

It would be hard-pressed to find someone else who can consistently challenge boredom and stay on the scene in a way that’s fresh, invigorating, and interesting for 26 years and counting.

Last night at Madison Square Garden, Madonna’s blonde waves were slightly channeling Rachel Zoe’s hair, the rocked out Borderline was as raw as Joan Jett, and the vintage 80’s looking eyeglasses are as on the fashion mark as her Sarah Palin disses.

But isn’t that why we all love Madonna?

And, could there be a person of sound mind and body under the age of 60 who has never danced to her music? Madonna knows how to take what’s around, mix it up, and constantly own it as totally her own. That’s staying power. Go on and get inspired!

Eyeglasses: Bolder is Better… Palin on Style

Counter Intelligence at Selima Optique
Counter Intelligence at Selima Optique

Counter Intelligence: Doggone it, I really hate to give Sarah Palin ink.

No matter how much you try to tszuj her up in designer clothes, that beauty pageant up-do and trying to be elegant but dated scholarly look just ain’t rocking it for me.  Yes, I did see the old school photos of her with the pitbull porn star brown lipliner too… wink, wink. Face it, I don’t think there is that much fashion in a darn sportsman (that’s pc for hunting, my friends) mall. You can try to style her up, but, there ‘ya go…

Politics and Stuart Smalley catchphrases aside, Mrs. Palin is a bit pale in the innovative style department. Therefore, when her folksy faux chic look infiltrates downtown NY, I get a little concerned, if not mortified.

I’ve been on a mad hunt for larger frame eyeglasses from Paris to NY for about half a year. After deciding that I was probably ahead of the retail curve for eyewear, I just forgot about it– until I walked into Selima Optique in NY’s Nolita section the other day. I found myself falling madly in love at first sight with a pair of Kala Eyewear, “handmade in California,” leopard tortoise frames. BTW: Palin’s eyeglasses are by Japanese designer Kazuo Kawasaki.

Since there are so many amazing statement eyeglasses to choose from at Selima, I joked with Kenneth the salesperson about surely not having a Palin crowd.  He said that pre-debate, they must have received at least 25 calls asking about that frameless style— considering the downtown trendiness of the neighborhood that’s a pretty high number or a lot of frantic people sending out random shots for some moosely frames.

“In my opinion, it’s one of the worst things to do to your own face,” says Kenneth. The frameless style “instantly ages you and it doesn’t fool anyone. All you see is that you are wearing glasses.” To look more modern, Kenneth suggests great vintage-inspired shapes, playful and imaginative colors, and a more masculine silhouette.

Funny, that sounds like what Mrs. P. is trying to pull off. Now you go on and think for yourself.
