Big splashy prints and feminine florals are a huge trend. Frankly, too much girlishness can make me a bit queasy, if it’s not worn the right way.
What I do LOVE is the very grown-up and chic splashy black and white, fitted sheath dress that Emmy Rossum chose to wear to the “Red” Broadway opening in New York last week.

Her dress is modern, sophisticated, and flatters her figure just so, but it could have gone from chic and interesting to mundane with the wrong choice of shoes.
Instead of pairing her feminine dress with something expected, like ladylike slingbacks or classic pumps, Emmy took the style plunge and went for the unexpected by wearing a pair of menswear inspired spectator heels to counterbalance the feminine look.
Instantly, her look became unique and had full-on personal style rather than looking looking like cookie-cutter fashion clone, simply by selecting shoes that are just a bit different-- that’s New York style!
