Souped up hair ornaments at rock bottom prices

Back in May, Madonna wore a Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton number with a funky little headpiece to the “The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion” Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The blogosphere tongues were wagging. They called Mama Madonna’s headdress a pair of bunny ears, the worst outfit they ever saw, and lots of yadayada trash talk for an otherwise slow news day.

I thought it was creative genius.

?In that crowd of every best-dressed supermodel and ingénue, whom do you remember still? Madonna, the muse who really is forever 21!

Fast-forward five months to today. ??Cheap chic emporium Forever 21 is no chump when it comes to glomming on to a trend. On one of my shopping the stores look-sees, I couldn’t help but notice the flock of young fashionistas trying on the fun teal headpiece that looks quite inspired by the one that Madonna wore. I was pretty surprised by all the attention to overdone hair accessories as I think this trend is pretty much done.

Frankly, the whimsy of Madonna’s hair accessory is far more eclectic than the frou-frou version, but for five bucks and some change you can still knock yourself out.
