In too-high-to-gallivant electric blue shoes that my husband says should only be worn in a festive parade involving some maracas, I continued to try to make my way across 57th Street and up Madison Avenue. It was crazy, insane fashion mayhem. Almost every store had a crowd with turned out fashionistas who oddly all looked alike. The last time I saw a street packed with so many women wearing almost the same outfit was when I found myself stuck in the middle of a mass Moonie Wedding that had just let out.
Finally up at the right Armani store, in a very chic crowd, I was able to hear Rosie’s last quip and to tell Nora Ephron that she is a genius, and to tell my friend whom I was meeting that she looked gorgeous. Breaking up with a cruddy boyfriend has amazing effects on one’s beauty. Out, done, and heading back to dinner with family. Not quite.
As I’m trying to find a cab (again), who comes trotting by but Brad Boles?! You may know him from the “The Real Housewives of New York.” But Brad and I go way back.
Once upon a time a million and a half years ago when I was a fashion stylist, Brad and I would be booked as a team. I was the stylist, he did makeup, and North Rebis did hair when Brad didn’t do both. There was cast of other fashionable characters too who you probably know, but we’ll save that for another time. There was also lot’s of hijinks on the set and super fun nights out with some rather hilarious photos to prove it. Luckily, the bewigged photo of Brad and I here was from the excuse of a rather glamorous Halloween circa 1985.
Back to last night, Brad and I cruised up Madison Avenue to see more of Fashion’s Night Out. With no shame, we took our own photo at Valentino to share with you—not bad for an unretouched photo for 24 years later! Kind of ironic since back in the day, we had a batch of covers for Vogue Mexico where I dressed the model in Valentino along with some baubles from David Webb.
Finally back home for dinner with family and some very sore and blue feet from last night’s shoes. To be continued…
