While all the girls are giddy with the upcoming release of “Sex and the City 2” and Sarah Jessica Parker wearing the white jersey Halston Heritage dress in the ubiquitous movie poster, it’s time to learn about who the real Halston was.

“Ultrasuede: In Search of Halston,” is a portrait of America’s first celebrity designer with reflections from Liza Minnelli, Diane Von Furstenberg, André Leon Talley, Anjelica Huston, Bob Colacello, and Billy Joel.

Vidal Sassoon The Movie

 

There’s more behind the man who “changed the world with a pair of scissors” from frothy bouffants to the iconic and geometric wash and wear bob hairstyle in the 1960′s. “Vidal Sassoon The Movie” chronicles the self-made man from his beginning in a Jewish orphanage to becoming the rock and rolliest master of Mod hair design.

Cast includes fashion designer Mary Quant.

Arias With A Twist: The Docufantasy

The documentary of downtown cabaret and drag artist Joey Arias and his collaborations with master puppeteer Basil Twist.” Arias With A Twist: The Docufantasy” takes you on a tour of downtown New York’s club, art, fashion, and performance scene starting in the late ’70s. The program notes state that director Bobby Sheehan has unearthed never-before-seen footage from the era of Andy Warhol, David Bowie, Keith Haring, Grace Jones, and Divine.
