Dear Sharon: I am a junior in high school and while searching the web, I saw your page related to Breast Cancer Awareness Month. My mother passed away from the illness two and a half years ago after a 12-year battle. My grandmother died of ovarian cancer and I have many other relatives, friends and neighbors who have been affected by cancer- especially breast cancer.
Since Breast Cancer Awareness Month is October, I was wondering if it is possible to have some kind of awareness in my school for that month. Do you have any suggestions? I was wondering if money was collected could it be donated toward a cancer society? Thank you -- Striving For A Cure (Hollywood, FL)

Dear Striving For A Cure: I am sorry that you have been touched so closely by this devastating illness and applaud your push to bring awareness to your school and help raise money to find a cure.
