Helmut Lang spring 2013 Runway Review: Helmut Lang never ceases to impress with clean lines, impeccable seaming, that mod-boxy shaping, and techy textures.  And so again we have those very elements for the Spring 2013 collection. Here's the big "is-this-really-Helmut-Lang" factor: kaleidoscope floral prints and brocades!  Yes, it's a fact.  I am not sure how I feel about that element of the collection - the prints are executed well on stiff, sheen poly/nylon, and certainly are more modern versus girlie, it's just so un-Helmut.  The bright orange thrown in is a fabulous pop, the pale blue is not so hot, and the shoes are killer.  This collection will be a go-to for layering jackets...isn't it always?! >> MORE: FASHION SHOWS AND RUNWAY REVIEWS Helmut Lang spring 2013

BCBGMaxAzria  Spring 2013 Runway Review: BCBG is famously known for their young, contemporary, and often color blocked party dresses, but this season strays a bit from this mold and I am not certain it was their best move. Anna Piaggi, 81, passed away at her home in Milan. It is indeed the end of an era for authentic eccentric style combined with an unerring eye to what is fashion. In a time of dime a dozen posers trying to set forth their fashion freak for a bit of media attention, Ms. Piaggi was-- and will remain-- an original. Her "work" was as creative consultant to Vogue Italia since 1988 but it is her individuality that is legend. If you are going to make a BIG statement, make it your own and at that, Ms. Piaggi was brilliant beyond compare.
