BHV Paris Holiday Windows in Collaboration with Alexis Mabille

Retail Remedy: We're wrapping up our Paris Holiday Windows series with an unexpected twist from BHV by way of cutting edge designer Alexis Mabille. Sometimes the less glamorous BHV department store gets it together to do cool holiday windows. >>MORE: Holiday Style  BHV Paris Holiday Windows in Collaboration with Alexis Mabille This year they have tapped the hot, of the moment French fashion designer Alexis Mabille to create the windows. These windows seem a lot more kid friendly and have some whimsy to them. Mabille has adorned the front of the store with his signature giant bow in white lights and the windows feature Mabille’s fantasy couture fashions. Artist Marie Beltrami has designed the fun animal heads topping the mannequins. Les fables d’Alexis Mabille (Fairy tales of Alexis Mabille) There is an added

Galeries Lafayette Paris Holiday Windows Loves Louis Vuitton

Galeries Lafayette Paris Holiday Windows
Retail Remedy: Our tour of Paris holiday windows continues with Galeries Lafayette, which kinda sorta reminds us of a not quite as elaborate version of Bergdorf Goodman's New York windows from a few season's back. Or, a tad of  Le Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature in Paris gone fashionista. Let's see Richard Nahem's report. Galeries Lafayette Paris Christmas windows have also been hijacked by a mega-brand fashion label, Louis Vuitton, but at least they are more kid friendly than Printemps this year. >>MORE: Holiday Style,  Paris Holiday Windows Galeries Lafayette Paris Holiday Windows A cute polar bear holding a Vuitton duffel bag, penguins wearing leopard ties and sunglasses, an Afghan dog donning a silk scarf, and a somersaulting panda all proliferate the mighty Vuitton. Printemps Paris Holiday Windows- Dior & Marion Cotillard, absolument!

Printemps Paris Holiday Windows
Retail Remedy: The world of Dior for the holidays. Richard Nahem continues to bring us his tour of  Paris Holiday Windows I adore the Printemps windows this year but I have a slight problem with them. As fun and imaginative as they are, they symbolize promoting a brand rather than the spirit of Christmas. The windows are devoted to the Dior brand and their logo and name is bluntly splashed everywhere. As much as they appealed to me, I think tiny tots and kids will be disappointed. >>MORE: Holiday Style  and Dior Printemps Paris Holiday Windows Enough of my grandstanding and back to why I LOVE the windows. They harken back to the original Dior New Look from 1947 with 74 handcrafted dolls/poupettes dressed in Dior haute couture and are hand

La Comedie Humaine- Parisian Men’s Shop Inspired by Balzac

La Comedie Humaine- Parisian Men's Shop Inspired by Balzac
Retail Remedy: Men's style gets intellectual with this clever spin at a Parisian men's shop. Richard  Nahem reports from Paris... I decided to take a stroll through Canal St. Martin, as I had not been there in a long time. Always hunting for the new and interesting, I came across an intriguing new men's shop, La Comedie Humaine. I started looking through the sparsely stocked racks, the first one starting with crisp, finely detailed button down shirts. The shirts came with a removable collar and above the rack was a display with a selection of alternate collars you could attach to the same shirt.  >>MORE: Men's Style Men's shirt collars I didn't think twice about the name of the shop until I struck

Paris Resale: Vintage French Chic at L’Ibis Rouge

Chanel jacket at L’Ibis Rouge
On The Road: Richard Nahem comes across a marvelous Paris shop full of gorgeous French designer goodies. They say the teacher learns from their students. In my case, it’s the Paris tour guide who learns from their clients. Over the years, my clients have shared many things I haven’t had prior knowledge of including: restaurants, historic facts, shopping, hotels, and other insider tidbits. Many have been great finds and very useful. >>MORE: Paris A lovely client from Louisiana and I hit it off like a house on fire last year when we did a Marais tour together. Since then, we have kept closely in touch by email.  One of her emails highly recommended that that I visit her friend’s resale clothing and jewelry

The Right Attitudes: Chloe Exhibit in Paris Explores the History of the Fashion House

Chloe Attitudes
Paris In Style: Chloe Attitudes Exhibit at Palais de Tokyo There hasn’t been a fashion exhibit that has wowed me since I wrote about the Madame Grés exhibit last spring. The Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton show earlier this year was a letdown for me and far too much a promotion for the brand. I just went to the Chloe Attitudes show and it was a delightful surprise, as I didn’t know much about it before I saw it. Chloe Attitudes The show is a tribute to Gaby Aghion, who started the Chloe label 60 years ago by having a casual show of the first collection at the Café de Flore. In subsequent years she strived to make Chloe a brand that would have the informality of everyday wearable clothes with the luxuriousness

Sonia Rykiel 2013: Knitwear inspiration right now with highlights from the Paris Spring 2013 Runways As the knitwear label that Sonia Rykiel founded in the late 1960's has just changed owners, the label opted out of a runway show presentation, yet the outing was a tour de force none the less. >>DISCOVER: Highlights from New York Spring 2013 Fashion Week What made the notion of comforting knits all the more covetable here was a certain sense of discipline as each look was on par with the seasons return to minimalism while boasting a cool, unexpected edge.
