Dear Browsy Points: Sweetie daaahrling, you can go from lowbrow to highbrow in mere minutes with just the right attention to detail. Perfectly groomed eyebrows shape a face, take years off your appearance, and finish your look.

More important, cruddy looking or neglected brows can do more damage than you can imagine. Sadly, many women don't realize the extraordinary difference a little eyebrow grooming can do for their image.



Unruly brows are a personal pet peeve, so I decided to ask a woman more obsessed than I since she makes eyebrow design her career. Eliza Petrescu has her own floor with the first ever Eyebrow Boutiquein the NYC Avon Centre Salon & Spa and knows how to find the two hairs that make the difference in a perfect arch.

Eliza's seven-minute eyebrow makeover has shaped Jennifer Lopez, Cindy Crawford, Halle Berry, Natasha Richardson, and Tracey Pollan. She says, "grooming eyebrows won't make you look like a different person, but like you, only better."

And now Eliza shares her tips to help you arch on:

· Stay close to the natural shape you have and refine it

· Everything is geometrical, be careful of eyebrow length in proportion to eye size

Ready, set, shape (use a pencil to gauge proportion) 1. The space between eyebrows should be the same or smaller than the width of your eye 2. To discover your correct brow length, hold a pencil from your nostril to the outside edge of your eye. The point that the pencil touches your brow, is your perfect brow length 3. Find the highest part of the arch by holding pencil parallel to the outside edge of the iris. The first three quarters of the brow should head upward; the final quarter should head downward

· The angle of the arch is not how you see it, but as how another person views it when looking straight on at you

· Eliza prefers waxing most hairs and advises to throw your tweezers away if you don't know what you are doing… just use a pencil and gel

· If you over pluck, the hairs may not grow back right away…but be patient, eventually they just might

· Use an eyebrow pencil to soften or define in a shade closer to your skin tone rather than eyebrow color, use a brow gel to "set" shape.Eliza's Essential Brow Know How Kit from Avon has all the tools you need to maintain pretty brows, plus her handy guide to Extraordinary Eyebrows. You can maintain the shape of your brows, but don't always expect to shape them yourself, see an eyebrow expert when you can. Eliza suggests seeing a pro at least 2-3 times a year- even at this occasional rate you will still look better than you did before.
