Hailing from Lanvin, Mathilde Castello Branco’s debut collection at Azzaro may not have been a game changer when it comes to the label’s signature, refined party dresses, but she did manage to add a few subtle notions to the label’s precise direction.

Amidst the pretty, pitch perfect gala ready offerings were a few unexpected pieces that had Lanvin’s more relaxed, off-kilter take on dramatic elegance and a felicitous card print featuring jacks & spades.
And while there’s really no news within the line-up, it does appear that Azzaro has found a proper successor to Vanessa Seward, the designer who imagined the rigorous codes that Branco navigated so well this time around.
