Carolina Herrera Fall 2013 Runway Review: Not surprisingly, Carolina Herrera delivers a stunningly elegant collection of eveningwear and seperates at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York. The silhouettes could not get more refined and figure flattering, and the colors rang true of a rich and luxurious Fall. The sophisticated woman desires the silk charmueses, velvets, furs, tweeds and intentionally placed embellishments that Herrera is known for, and this Fall collection provides the best dressing possible.
Bow details and waist cinching are reaccuring details within the line, both done very exquistitely – neatly knotted bows at the neck and waist have been popping up allover the Fall 2013 runways, here it is more tastefully expected than decorative. The belts accessorizing most of the outfits have a soft fur trim that could add bulk, but rather add a refined touch to define the female shape. Luxe fabrics, embellishments, and the flower prints give the entire collection a polished vibe.
Color blocking the neck and shoulder panels defines the female stature and here we also see embellishment blocking – placed panels of beading and rhinestones, rather than just in a contrast color The crimson and wine colors, along with the saturated prarie blue, are complimentary to any skin tone along with the dusty pinks, pale greys and charcoal that are within the collection.

If you don’t have a gala to attend, there are still plenty of seperate pieces to pull out and infuse sophistication into your exsisting wardrobe. And the end result will be eternally classic, no matter the season or year — Alix Kivlin
