Raf Simons debut collection for Christian Dior opening the Haute Couture Fall 2012 season made for one promising week with many of our favorite designers of the moment delivering collections that should work as brilliant inspiration come fall.

From the directional to the feminine to the brazenly cool, this was one of the best couture seasons in years, making a strong case for the forever fledgling season.

Of the designers showing couture this season, Giambattista Valli brought with him one of the season’s most fantastically feminine collections.

Here, classic shapes exploded with lush ruffles that enhanced the silhouette while floral prints worked to punctuate many a look.

As she’s already entranced the working woman with a series of sleek day wear options since starting her eponymous label, Bouchra Jarrar smartly added a feminine verve to her forever-chic platform.

From an unexpected floral print to beading to ruffles and a-line shapes, this was one wearable, covetable range.

Givenchy-

Givenchy Couture Fall 2012

Many a trend is destined to come out of Givenchy’s latest collection from the decadent ombre beaded opening number to the extra long fringed pieces to the u-shaped hems.

But what was most winning of the mix was an addition of somber nude numbers that while still ultra-cool, had a refined sensibility that we hope marks for a new direction from the maison.

One of our favorite labels of the moment when looking for inspiration, Valentino delivered another breathtaking, beautiful outing for Fall 2012.

And while there was classic Valentino red on hand, along with rich brocades and lush fur panels, many of our top looks came in a moody navy blue. Each look boasted a refined, thoughtful elegance for a modern take on sophisticated dressing.
