ICB by Prabal Gurung 2013 Runway Review: The ICB by Prabal Gurung line has finally made it stateside with it’s debut at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York. With Gurung at the helm you certainly can’t go wrong and the collection is perfect for a wide range of women as long as modern minimalism and clean style are your taste. Lots of black and grey, with injuections of a brilliant clear blue, blood red, and the occasional gigantic print. The silhouettes are very wearable and flattering – you can choose to show off your shape or go more oversize and slouchy – this versitility is what will allow this line to reach women in their twenty’s through sixties.
The marled sweaters are a must-have for Fall/Winter and considering they range in white, black, and grey they can be paired with literally anything. There’s a slouchy oyster colored suit that is perfect for the office and then for post-work drinks you can change into a cinched waist red and cream colorblocked dress with flare skirt and shoulder cut-outs. Another killer outfit is the elonged, cozy blue sweater worn with red and black pieced stovepipe trousers – sexy and edgy without being too overt about it. The outerwear is dark and wearable, sticking with the current boxy, menswear trend and some pieces with cut aways or layered lapels. These top layering pieces are some of the strongest aspects of the collection because of their detail and exquisite fit, nothing was overlooked.
