We heard the spring 2010 fashion trend forecast for what was to be shown on the New York runways, now let us see the runway recaps.
Stylesight’s Senior Vice President of Trend Analysis, Sharon Graubard, talks the trends.
“While designers may have cut back on generous goody bags or big parties, it seems they have put more thought and energy into the clothes themselves.
Experimental fabrics and beautiful prints provided the emotional pull — after all, shopping for clothes is usually less about need and more about desire.
Nature was a huge inspiration, but Moody Nature full of stormy skies, worn-away eroded surfaces, burning lava, blotchy dyes (Refer to gallery images from Rodarte, Risto, Calvin Klein).”
“Shapes were organic as well, with lots of asymmetry and collaging of materials (inspiration photos from BCBG Max Azria, Cushie et Ochs, Preen). “
“Sport was another big inspiration with linebacker shoulders, segmented leggings or bike shorts, athletic mesh inserts, and racer-backs for tees and tops (Alexander Wang, Yigal Azrouel, Charlotte Ronson).”
“The back is the new erogenous zone, highlighted with cutaways, sheer panels, goddess drapery, ruffles and exposed zippers (Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan)
