Vera Wang Spring 2013 Runway Review: A rather opulent Spring 2013 collection was seen today at Vera Wang and it rang with rich notes of Autumn. Yet, it translated into fitted, short Spring silhouettes which made it very new and awesome.

When would you think to wear jewel tone brocades, heavy gold beading, and thick lace?  Not necessarily Spring!

But the Bermuda shorts, snug and sleeveless peplum shells, short, closely fit sheath dresses, and sleeveless jackets all give the luxurious fabrics and colors a warm-weather shape to fit into.

This collection has much more of an eveningwear edge to it, of course with brocades and jacquard how would it not.  The thick open lace dresses, pants, vests, and shorts in a variety of jewel tones are my favorites; black being the most wearable, white lending the most Spring-time feel, and eggplant purple having the most wild edge.   The shades of green throw me off a bit, as it really rings Fall to me, and besides that, green is a tricky color for most skin tones to work with.

A vibrant blue paisley brocade short suit and layered shift dress are huge successes to the “this-fabric-goes-Spring” look, and the royal blue hue is beautifully shocking.

For a more refined look, go for the champagne hued, slim knee-length dress, or poof A-line skirt which can be dressed up with beading and embroidery (as seen here) or even paired with a slim fit white tee and highly accessorized.

The silhouettes shout out the most, the fabrics second to that, and the colors may be the most tricky to want to wear come April…but for a special evening out, why not go radically different and know you are oozing lavish-ness! – Alix Kivlin
