Runway Review: The highlight display of artfully draped garments was the palette of smooth, warm neutrals with shocking flashes of color The color palette was brimming with Spring Fever, and soft fabrics were in full flow at the Ports 1961 Spring 2011 show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Silvio Liu Spring 2011 NYFW Collection brims with sweet and feminine party dresses

Runway Review: Definitely a designer to watch emerge, as it's the first collection and with experience the collections will grow and develop. This tiny capsule of dresses with bursts of coral and watercolor florals is the first women's collection for Silvio Liu, showcased here at Merecedes-Benz Fashion Week. The spring cocktail dresses were chic silhouettes on their own, the light palette was refreshing, but I saw a few key details that didn't sit with the collection. Silvio Liu- Spring 2011 Collection >> Fashion Shows and Runway Reviews The fit and tailoring was perfect and created a flattering feminine look on all the dresses, but I wasn't too keen on the cropped boxy jackets that covered a few of them. Waists

Charlotte Ronson Fashion Show- Grunge for Girls on the Spring Runway

Runway Review: Grunge got girly and there are plenty of sweet florals under the slouchy hoodies and washed out plaid shirts Be prepared to pull out your beat up high school hoodie next Spring. Charlotte Ronson is taking things back to the casual, borderline grungy, utilitarian 1990's dress code with her most recent collection shown at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.e Charlotte Ronson- Spring 2011 Fashion Show This time around the grunge got girly and there are plenty of sweet florals under the slouchy hoodies and washed out plaid shirts. A fine bit of feminism and flower child compliments the super casual look. And for having so many oversize garments there was still a lot of skin showing! Charlotte Ronson- Spring

Back to Old School- Backpacks, Rucksacks, Knapsacks, call it what you want, but they are super stylish now

Back at YOU-- no longer reserved for students & tourists, the backpack is making it's fashion statement again. Not since we all became stylishly exhausted from the ubiquitous 90's nylon Prada backpack, have they made such a strong fashion statement- not to mention, impossible to keep again in stock these days. Alexander Wang - Sydney Velvet Backpack at ShopBop Maybe it's the return of 90's minimalism that's trending now. Maybe it's that a backpack makes absolute sense when navigating the urban jungle on a bike. But from Euro street style to hot off the runways (see the Alexander Wang knapsack that we love, right), the backback is looking so right these days. Erogonomics aside, the right backpack needs to look

What Courtney Wore Today, Yes As In LOVE

Rock Queen, Underrated Actor, Tabloid Fodder, and Personal Style Blogger... Yes, THAT Courtney Love! Personal Confession: I find myself flummoxed by many personal style blogs... I have an old school brain where my fashion focus is more about YOU than ME... most of my career spent behind the scenes to create a gorgeous end-product rather than being front and center in a model posing way. Without naming names in the gargantuan genre of personal style blogs, for me, some are absolutely over-rated, others embarrassing, most are mundane, many are sweet, and few simply stand out on their own merit. The personal style blogs that do it well, do very well. I'm also fascinated with this celebrity-obsessed culture where the swag

Affordable fashion Alert: Love the Spring 2011 collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Stockholm & I'm wearing it now- so should you! Forget cheesy fast fashion, get designer style at an affordable price... Ironic, but true, as I'm reviewing runway photos from the Cheap Monday Spring 2011 collection that just showed at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Stockholm, I'm wearing a Cheap Monday T-shirt. Yes, I'm attempting to be on vacation and more casual, but even some of my more urban everyday outfits involve some Cheap Monday. I probably buy a handful of their things every season and they inadvertently become go-to pieces that I mix with much higher end designer pieces from Jil Sander, Maison Martin Margiela, Rick Owens (oh, I want

Guys, Wear Red If You Want a Date

Women love a man of power and that's what wearing red signifies! The color red symbolizes P-O-W-E-R, just ask Donald Trump, the man with the red power tie. Best of Haute Couture Fall 2010 – The Glamour, The Fantasy, The Allure

As we prepare for the Spring 11 Fashion Weeks, we reflect the unimaginable beauty of what was Haute Couture Fall 2010 Naveed Hussain has spent some time digesting the magnificence of all that is available for only a privileged few. Haute Couture has been a tireless subject of debate. While many like to continually point out it's weak sales across the board and diminishing relevance in society. Although that may be the case, wasn't it always? Isn't couture about that unattainable and highly elusive luxury item we all like to dream of having? Hasn't globalism made "luxury" too readily attainable? The nine designers who showed for Haute Couture Fall 2010 clearly understand the craft beautifully. However, there were four contributions

Wearable Art For Your Feet by Japanese Shoe Designer Tetsuya Uenobe

In Their Words: An interview with the man who sees an animal on every shoe Back in my early club days one of my most coveted pair of shoes was a pair of Tokio Kumagai black suede pumps with funny, little whiskers jutting out all over. At a time when Japanese designers like Rei Kawakubo for Comme des Garçons and Yohji Yamamoto were the must-have uniform for the downtown art set, Tokio Kumagai designs-- particularly the shoes-- were right in step. Often extraordinary and whimsical, the shoes shared the Japanese minimalist fashion aesthetic of the time that still looks modern. The most iconic being most a pair of mouse flats long before Marc Jacobs turned a rodent into a chic
