When I start thinking ahead to my favorite fashion season, rather than going gaga about opulent accents, I think of what would be the best fall wardrobe staples the glue that plays nicely with the rest of my wardrobe.
Here, you have it.
My style in a nutshell: If I could encapsulate all my go-to timeless fall wardrobe staples over time, it would be iterations of a perfect fitted black turtleneck and a leather flare skirt. Ok, sometimes, it’s wool.
If someone suggested that you should have ONE piece in your fall wardrobe staples, I would dare to say that a fitted black turtleneck should be it. It’s a workhorse basic (from cashmere to featherweight cotton) that never goes out of style and lives as long as the moths don’t come. (you don’t want to hear about last year’s visitors)
Something as so simple, effortless, and chic as a well-cut black turtleneck is the foil to make any well-cut piece stand on its own. Dress it up, or dress it down, or let it be the backdrop for an architectural silhouette like this.
As far as the flare skirt, it eternally has an air of sophistication and elegance. It just happens to also be VERY on trend at the moment.
The wide belt is making a major comeback. Not your thing? A simple slim belt will do. Just keep the outfit shape sculptural.
