There’s an off-handedness that Italians have. They could be wearing the most extravagant item — think a healthy dose of gold, a swath of fur, ornate embellishments, or in this case, black leather pants– and throw it together in a manner that’s effortless and molto elegante, and even casual in their own way. Black leather pants are one of the hottest trends this season, and we all know how tricky they can be.

Valentina Cervi
Valentina Cervifew things that are the essence of this simp

Along with pairing a menswear jacket and white top with their black leather pants, both ladies share is a black & white clean aesthetic that compliments the flash of leather and tones it down to perfection.

Valentina Cervifew, above, dresses her leather pants up with a more architectural edge- something close to my personal style.  Her sharp shouldered “almost black” mulberry jacket adds a hint of tonal interest as well as her deep red lips. Looks like Valentina is wearing either the original or the H&M reissue of Maison Martin Margiela lucite heel boots for an edgy accent that  keeps the white blouse in balance without getting too heavy.  A fantastic take on everyday downtown glam.

Stefania Rocca attends the 7th Rome Film Festival
Stefania Rocca

Stefania Rocca opts for a menswear influence by way of crisp white tuxedo shirt worn with a shrunken black blazer that allows the white shirt sleeves to make a style statement. Menswear broques  a dashing and unexpected touch, plus fab shoes to navigate the cobblestone Roman streets. Soft, undone hair and makeup add a feminine touch. Very chic and understated.
