Mathew Williamson fall 2010 was a runway showstopper at London Fashion Week
Runway Review: This collection was not short show-stopping garments, none more so than the flaming-hot, figure-hugging dress, with molten tones of orange, red, terracotta and gold
A collection of beautifully draped cocktail dresses and luxurious silk trousers, teamed with tough leather jackets and super-soft suede coats make up Matthew Williamson’s Fall 2010 collection…

The colour palette provided a feast for the eyes; beginning with icy tones of silvery grey and primary blue, and gradually heating up with warm shades of fuchsia and peach, the collection culminated in a sizzling finale of flaming red and orange.
Striking, busy prints injected a feeling of disorder as colours clashed and ran into one another, whilst an adventurous, experimental vibe was projected through the use of a variety of textures.

Fabrics included heavy wool, shiny leather and butter soft suede, as well as shimmering silk and slinky stretch jersey silk.
A winter collection by Williamson would not be complete without a generous dusting of sparkle, which this time came in the form of shiny metallic fabrics in hues of antique gold, and electric blue.
Draping is a constant throughout the collection with beautifully draped silk trousers, diagonally draped skirts with bubble hems, and Grecian style evening dresses.
Tailored trophy jackets displayed exquisite beading. One such jacket was covered completely in sparkling, spiky silver beads that swayed as the model sashayed down the runway.
Loose silhouettes were cinched at the waist with both chunky studded, and skinny belts, which were often doubled up for a youthful look.
As Williamson’s return to London for the second season this collection was not short show-stopping garments, none more so than the flaming-hot, figure-hugging dress, with molten tones of orange, red, terracotta and gold.
It is moments like catching a glimpse of a flash of sparkle through an opening of a heavy wool exterior that adds excitement and mystery to this winter collection from Williamson. Wildly-coloured party dresses, structured tailored jackets and oversized wool coats make this Fall 2010 collection a recipe for success. — Kirsty Armstrong
