The First Lady of Style: Michelle Obama WOWS in (Jason) Wu Again for Inaugural Gown, and then some

Truth be told, red is my favorite color for everything except party affiliation. The First Lady broke tide in a STUNNING Jason Wu red halter gown for the Inaugural gown first dance, and maybe, just maybe, that can be a sign of getting us all together.

Far from the more girly white Jason Wu frock from 2009, this red draped chiffon and velvet number was sexy in the most powerful and in control nuance that a grown woman should master. Add The First Lady’s new bangs, and Mrs. Obama stunned in a fresh and vibrant way that made you not only proud to be an American looking forward but proud that a woman of substance is in a place which she belongs.

The first couple danced to Jennifer Hudson’s rendition of Al Greene’s soul classic, “Let’s Stay Together.” Perhaps, that message in combination to the red inaugural gown may continue  to send the right message of equality for all from today’s marvelous inauguration address. Just hoping.

The inauguration events have been a style point worth noting for a woman who gets what looking ageless and sophisticated is all about. This afternoon’s impeccably tailored Thom Browne coat with an already sold out J. Crew jeweled belt is a classic keeper. Her boots are by Reed Krakoff.

The menswear designer is not known to many outside of fashion before this morning, but will be on the top list from now on.

I do have one of my go-to uniform coats from Thom Browne’s foray at Brooks Brothers and it’s twist on menswear with the fit and flare for a woman makes it more than just right.

The takeaway from from Mrs. Obama’s outfits today is beyond her radiance and confidence,  are  deftly tailored pieces that defy age– that is the eptiome of chic.
