  • What First Lady Michelle Obama Wore- Marc by Marc Jacobs and Tracy Reese

Inbox Alert: Fashionable First Lady emails are still coming in like mad

I’ve put a kibosh on reporting on what Mrs Obama has been wearing lately as I am :

    a) getting bored with the chronic pr emails about almost every bit of clothing that the First Lady wears and assume you are too.

    b) not always impressed with Mrs Obama’s style as she gets more experimental and into a girlier mode, which I don’t find as flattering on her figure asher signature clean chic crisp tailored pieces.

    c) would like the rest of the non-fashion media to spend some time focusing on her duties as a First Lady beyond her wardrobe.

But never say never, as Michelle Obama selected two summery dresses that I absolutely love.

The Marc by Marc Jacobs Simone Stripe Dress:

Earlier today, the First Lady was photographed with the President boarding Air Force One in Rio de Janeiro on their way to Chile. Mrs. Obama wore a Spring 2011 Marc by Marc Jacobs Simone Stripe Dress. The silk dress has a fantastic burst of color, and it’s on trend color-blocking breaks the First Lady’s frame in all the right places. The longer hemline is both age-approriate and suits her height. Perfect!

    Get it:

    • The dress in the same version as Mrs. Obama‘s is available at select Saks store and its information is found here at Saks.com
    • A shorter, flirtier version of the Marc by Marc Jacobs Simone Stripe Dress, also pictured above, is available at Shopbop.comnow. If a mini isn’t your thing, wear it as a tunic over capri pants and belt it slightly below your waist.

Mrs. Obama arrived in in Brasilia, Brazil on Saturday wearing, what appears to be a modified, Tracy Reese 2TZ5P8- Strapless Dress in a tribal pattern. The rayon summer dress is fantastic, but it’s higher waistband and full skirt are not the most flattering on Mrs. Obama’s frame. I’d prefer to see her in a dress with more of a dropped waist to elongate her torso and less girly frou-frou fullness in the skirt.

The First Lady’s dress had wider shoulder straps and was in the red familyWe tracked in down in a more striking black and ivory combination … much prettier!

    Get it:

Tracy Reese Striped Strapless Dress inBlack/Ivory Tribal with thinner solid black straps (pictured above) at Revolve Clothing.

    Also available strapless at Nordstrom’s.

There you have it… the latest wear-to-buy on what First Lady Michelle Obama wore. What do you think?
