Would you wear this wacky fashion? SEE ARRRGH! Monsters in Fashion in Paris

Ya know I love a good freaky outfit from time to time. Wacky fashion and its wearer, when done right– as a fashion performance piece– is pretty incredible. It puts a smile on your face and let’s you appreciate people who live their life as their art.

But, then you get those wackadoodle show ponies who have the chutzpah to put on anything odd and outlandish for some extra attention.  Really, there are a few kinds of out there: the wacky fashion that has you roll your eyes, those who just wanna have a little fun & the kind that has your eyes popping out in jaw dropping amazement. Richard Nahem takes us to the later. – S.H.

Scary, wacky  fashion is not limited to some of the Paris runway shows.

The new exhibition ARRRGH! Monsters in Fashion is a more fun and creative look at fashion rather than wacky & scary. Fifty-eight contemporary designers do their take on their inner monster with 80 looks. Alexander McQueen, Andrea Crews, Gareth Pugh, Issey Miyake, Henrik Vibskov, Bernhard Willhelm, Rick Owens, and Walter Van Beirendonck are among the designers shown.

ARRRGH! Monsters in Fashion

“This is not an exhibition about the history of ‘monstrosity’ in fashion—there has always been monstrosity—but rather how do we see it today, and especially how do young designers see it today,” says Vassilis Zidianakis, the curator, and Walter Van Beirendonck inspired the exhibit.

Don’t miss the mesmerizing film shown on four walls.  I highly recommend the exhibit for kids and they don’t necessarily have to be into fashion to enjoy it.— Richard Nahem
