Dear Gorgeous Darlings- There's never any doubt that Monique Lhuiller knows how to cut a gown. Her eveningwear never fails to have the exquisite drape and fine dressmaker embellishments of a grand couturier which spotlight, but not overpower the feminine form. Lhuillier says her fall 2006 collection was inspired by what she calls her "nesting phase" during her pregnancy when she became passionate with vintage wallpapers and ways to decorate her future home. From here, she came across opulent brocades and luscious jacquards that give the collection its distinct nod to 60's Couture mixed with modern elán. The voluminous, feminine silhouettes feature bubble skirts, oversized bracelet sleeves and ruffle, huge collars, swing coats, flaring caplets and boleros in the perfect proportion that the wearer will not be lost in. -S.H.
