Recently, I was dating this guy who made the comment, "you haven't found your style yet". I responded that my style is eclectic, meaning that I'm comfortable in a mini skirt, blue jeans, or a suit. I don't like being predictable in my attire nor do I want to be conservative all the time.

Am I missing something here? Is it the norm to have one style? I obviously didn't understand the undertone of his statement, but he is not an expert in style. Help!!! Thanks for your time. (Pompano Beach)

I make an effort to keep my hair up-to-date and have been working a bob hairstyle for the past year. I loved the hairstyle and its simple chic appeal. However, its time has passed for me and I want to move on to a longer hairstyle.

Here's the thing, now that my bob has grown out a bit and my hair reaches to the middle if my neck, my once cool cut has taken on the neither here nor there look of a suburban soccer mom-- sans the pearl studs and chinos!

I'm freaking out because that is the very last look I'm after emulating. Even though I know this frumpy mid-neck bob length is only a temporary grow-out phase, the dowdy connection is wrecking my nerves.

How can I get through this awkward and dull hair length in style? Please take me away from the ballgame! (Silver Springs, NJ)

The best black leather jacket… Does black really go with everything?

My 21-year-old daughter tells me that I am wrong! She thinks her black leather jacket does not "go" with a colored sweater and jeans, so she chose to "freeze" today instead of wearing her leather jacket here in usually much warmer central Florida. I grew up in Chicago where people do not own five different colored winter coats because everything goes with black.

Am I wrong???

My daughter also tells me that one does not wear black with brown or even black with blue. Please help us settle this argument. Thanks for your input. (Lakeland, FL)

I am going to a wedding reception in the Outer Banks this weekend. I have this spectacular dress and I am not sure if it is really okay for the occasion. The wedding is of an old family friend and she has always been pretty wild. All I know about the event is that it is at 7PM and the plates were $35 per person.

Okay, to the dress…

It is all over silver beads and sequins on grey chiffon with spaghetti straps and a plunging neckline. It fits like a dream but there is quite a bit of skin. Ahh... I like it sooo much and have never had the opportunity to wear it, but I am scared of upstaging the bride. BTW, I am 33 and she is 55 and, again, has always been a very outgoing party girl.

What do you think? The sequins and beads are in alternating vertical lines down the length of the dress. It hits below the knee with a zig zag hem line. It's kinda like a sexy Suzie Snowflake frock. Please help. Thanks. (Wilmington, NC)

Am I too old to wear a baby-doll top? It’s a rich royal blue baby doll style blouse with long sleeves, a deep V-neck, and no embellishments that I’d like to wear with dressy black slacks or jeans.
I recently purchased the most adorable dress for my high school reunion. The top eighth of the dress is decorated in sequin trim which gives it a bit of sparkle, without being overdone or matronly.

However, the sequins really scratched up the underside of my upper arm just from trying it on in the store! Unfortunately, I didn't realize this had happened until AFTER I got home.

Do you have any advice on how to prevent the sequin trim dress from scratching me? I really don't want to return the dress because it's so looks so flattering on me. (Lebanon, OH)

All my life I've worn those bathing suits that cover just as much of my body as regular clothes do. The other day I decided to try on a regular bikini type bathing suit, just to see how it would look.
I would like fashion advice on styles and places to shop for professional looking clothing for a small frame. I am 25 years old and 5’6” tall with a well-proportioned, size 2 hourglass figure that’s a tad larger on top. My problem is finding fashionable office appropriate looks in small sizes.

The Juniors department usually carries small sizes but often the styles are unsuitable for the office and not cut for a more mature, shapely figure. The Misses department rarely carries anything below a size 4 or 6. I don't want to look like a "teeny bopper" nor do I want to look "old & frumpy". What should I look for when I want to appear stylish at work? (Hot Springs, AR)

Surgical Shoe Nightmare… Dressing up a cast for your foot

I just had foot surgery to remove a bone spur from my foot and have to wear a clunky surgical cast shoe until my foot heels. I’m attending my brother-in-law's wedding and want to look chic even though I have the burden of wearing this monster of a big, black surgical shoe.

My fear is that I look awkward and less stylish with this ugly, post-operative boot. I am not in the wedding party so I have some leeway as to what I’m wearing and was planning on wearing a fierce, above the knee, rose-colored pink sleeveless dress with matching jacket. Do I ditch this fashionable outfit for something longer to cover my feet or should I dress up my black cast boot? I’m still trying to style and profile. Any assistance would be sooo helpful.
