Ta-Ta, Cheerio Tangerine Trend, Emerald Green is THE color for 2013

PANTONE 17-5641 Emerald, a lively, radiant, lush green, is the Color of the Year for 2013.

For 2012, the “it” color was Tangerine Tango, what Pantone describes as a “spirited reddish orange, provided the energy boost we needed to recharge and move forward.”  But, that vibrant shade trickled into mass market  to become an overused shade of Boca Coral (yes, I named it; think about it). This year, rather than delving into suburban shades (I’m sorry if you like tangerine/coral, it was OVERUSED) associated with mock turtle T-shirts and pointy manicures, the color of this/next year is the classic and elegant Emerald green.

Pantone describes its color pick as “a vivid verdant green, enhances our sense of well-being further by inspiring insight as well as promoting balance and harmony.”

I’d like to think of emerald as a spin on classic, that won’t look dated a season from now.

Come to think of it, it’s both my birthstone and favorite gemstone… and those sparkly babies never go out of style.
