Absolutely Fabulous, Still!
Before Sex and the City, gutsy girl TV was
Absolutely Fabulous.
Edina Monsoon (Jennifer Saunders) and Patsy Stone (Joanna Lumley) are the ULTIMATE
fad-embracing, "once a party girl, always a party
girl" British characters who are giving a go of it again.
In a case of my flower brooch is bigger than yours,
Ab Fab (it's shorthand, sweetie darling) is back with
six brand-spanking new episodes on Comedy Central
debuting Monday, November 12th.
It's the original cast plus a double Bubble- Jane Horrocks plays a dual role as a television presenter lusting for her 16-minutes of fame in addition to
playing everyone's favorite ditz, Bubble.
Always hanging on to the next style thing, ooh so last century
Ab Fab fashion fads are replaced with
of-the-moment trends like
a scooter (in the kitchen), Mini
Cooper, Burberry plaid, super Botox injections, inflatable blow-up
bras (even too kooky for us to cover), a dribbling pebble fountain, and all the over-the-top designer clothes a fashion victim
could ever desire.
The time that Edina and Patsy have spent away from the tube did them well,
they didn't lose their bite, they sharpened their snappers… the hilarious blasts keep on coming.
A few new century Eddy-isms:
To Saffron (played by Julia Sawalha), her fashionably-bland daughter- "Why is everything you wear look like it's baring a grudge, darling?"
About an ex- "Being married to him is like being married to an antiques shop-full of crap and always closed."
On losing weight-"Once I'd like to take my clothes off and not be marked by them."
Absolutely Fabulous is fashion escapism in the truest sense, and I don't know about you, but I can use a
holiday right about now.
Welcome back.
back
to the last
stylething-
Underneath
Chic…
