Easter fashion parade…
Wacky bonnets as life imitates art
|
On
the Avenue,Fifth Avenue
The photographers will snap us…
--Easter Parade lyrics by Irving Berlin |
Who thought that wacky costumes are reserved for Halloween?
New Yorkers are never ones to lay their creative getups aside too long and Fifth
Avenue’s Easter Parade fashion is a far kookier cry than Judy Garland and
Fred Astaire could have imagined.
Art imitates life and life imitates art as
trusted fashion sense is thrown
aside and madcap millinery takes center stage. Eagerly posing along the
perambulating
fashion parade are some of the more inventive headgear this side of a Vegas
stage.
Personal favorites are the homage headdress to Christo and Jean-Claude’s
The Gates installation in Central Park and King Henry VIII with his tie-dyed
poodle.
