Ticks and Tatts…
A little country ditty to keep your summer rolling
You know how there are those funky summer songs which have that memorable hook that
you can’t quite get out of your head?
To this day, I can place my Hamptons
summer with Sheryl Crow’s “All I Want to Do” chorus etched in my brain.
Move forward a dozen years later and a few thousand miles West, and this time
I’m all itchy about Brad Paisley’s infectiously catchy tune, Ticks
is just what you need to have some fun this summer…
“…. your jeans are playing peek a boo
I’d like to see the other half of your butterfly tattoo …
oooh you never know where one might be and oooh theres lots of places that are hard to reach
I’d like to see you out in the moonlight I’d like to kiss you way back in the sticks
I’d like to walk you through a field of wildflowers and I’d like to check you for ticks
I’m not even a country music fan, but find myself leaving the country
western station turned up and driving around waiting for my next fix of Ticks for some
lighthearted sing-alongs. Besides being a fetching reminder to spray on the
insect repellant.
Ticks and lower back tatts will be summer memory by the time fall comes around when we’ll
all be wearing high-wasted pants anyway, so seeing the other half of that butterfly
tattoo will be reserved for SNL’s hilarious commercial spoof skit for
“Turlington’s Lower Back Tattoo Remover”.
