Move over Brazilian bombshells…
Slavic supermodels are the new It Girls
Say next time to the Caipirinha cuties and drink up the new vodka vixens posing
for the hottest luxury labels, like Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren,
Louis Vuitton, Chanel
and, Gucci.
Brazilian supermodels are being overrun by the new wave of Russian and Eastern
European top models. "We have beautiful skin, beautiful faces, and
the Brazilians are
finished," explains model Euguenia Volodina.
Maybe, you can go tell Giselle that!
Think it’s all hard work and no play?
We welcome you to take a behind the scenes
exclusive video peek of legendary fashion photographer Patrick
Demarchelier beachcombing (er, working) with nine bikini-clad Slavic
supermodels and up-and-comers- Natalia Vodianova, Carmen Kass,
Karolina Kurkova, Euguenia Volodina, Hana Soukupova, Marija Vujovic,
Natasha Poly, Valentina Zelyaeva, and Inguna Butane for Vanity
Fair’s April cover story, Slavs of Fashion: The New Beauties which
brings the fashionista hot model trend out to the mainstream audience.
Hear supermodel Carmen Kass say, "Our skin have [sic] good pimples,” her voice
raspy from 10 years of nightlife, adding, ”Good for nipples, for sure,"
while stomping in the chilly surf.
So what is the secret as to how Russians and Eastern Europeans girls have
climbed to the top of the most fabulous, fickle, and fierce professions?
Mega model Karolina Kurkova explains,”We had no nannies. We had to take care
of ourselves and our siblings and do everything. Everybody cooks. My dad
cooks.”
For now, we can bid a fond farewell to finishing schools and trophy wives.
