That old gray man, he ain't what he used to be… Tips to dye body hairHi, I am going on a cruise in April and in getting ready to prepare, I noticed that my chest hair has become quite gray.Is there a product I can use to dye the hair on my chest?I don't want to get rid of the hair but would like to get rid of some of the gray. Can I safely use any over the counter product or do I need to be careful about what I use? I would appreciate any information you could share with me. (Ewing, NJ)Sweetie, you just noticed that your chest hair has turned gray?! That's what scares me, don't you

Male Makeover, Not… Offended by disgusting appearance of co-worker

I am slated to open an office in a prestigious location with a co-worker coming up in September. I have long had issues with his grooming, yet he seems completely unaware and when I drop slight and, at times, bold hints--he thinks it's a joke. I don't want to make you sick, but it's everything! This guy is going to meetings with the public and I am HORRIFIED. He is a walking dork: the same haircut with all the same cowlicks from when he was 5, long hair (with attachments) coming from his nose and ears, clothes that do not fit (pants too short and too old), chapped lips and hands, and spittle always at the corner of his lips.

Beat Visible Pantylines… Tips for smooth moves

Beat Visible Pantylines… Tips for smooth moves Every time I wear any trousers or tight skirts, the lines of my panties can be seen. It looks terrible. Have you any suggestions? If I wore a thong or g-string would that help? I am a bit reluctant to wear thongs as I might be a bit old for that (I'm 40+) but I'm open to advice.(Dublin, Ireland) While wearing a well-fitting thong or g-string would certainly produce a smoother rear view, it only works if your rear is smooth to begin with. It's not about age, but more about skin-tone when you are wearing skimpy undies. You sound less than confident about having a late start to wearing thongs, so let's

Wearing velvet to a wedding in March… What’s the right time to switch to spring and stop wearing velvet

Wearing velvet to a wedding in March… What's the right time to switch to spring and stop wearing velvet Is it ok to wear a black velvet pant suit to a wedding in early March? The wedding is at 4:30 reception is at 6:30. It's a rather 'formal' wedding. (Lake Zurich, IL) That's a tricky one. Velvet is most often considered a winter fabric. However, a softer, bare silhouette can go the mile into warmer times, as would a velvet jacket over jeans on a casual chic chilly spring night. Early March is still technically winter, so the appropriateness of the fabric really depends on the weather and the style of the suit. If the wedding is in the south,

Winter dress tips to be the ultimate Ice Queen

How to look sleek when it's zero degrees... How to look sleek when it's zero degrees… Winter dress tips to be the ultimate Ice Queen Do you have any suggestions on what to wear to a formal wine tasting where some walking around the city between dining and tasting occurs? Is it acceptable and normal to see women in fishnets, sexy dresses and heels in very cold temperature? Or, am I more likely to see women in dressy slacks and sequin tops? And, how about sweaters or shawls? I am assuming that the apartment will be rather chilly. I want to look sleek with zero degree temps and really appreciate the help. (Great Falls, VA) Dressing up when it's frigid

Senior style for forgoing pantyhose: Adjust your fashion sense for your age

Adjust your fashion sense for your age… Senior style for forgoing pantyhose Here's a spin on that proverbial chestnut: hose worn with open shoes. I'm old, and my legs show it. My old gams look much better in hose, obviously. Hose does for my legs what Ultima II does for my face! So, I know pantyhose worn with open shoes is a no-no, but I've seen old girls like me without hose, and it ain't pretty! Is there any advice you can offer? (Rochester, NY) Sweetie, you make me chuckle. Age certainly does bring wisdom in your case. You are smart enough to know that a good part of having style is the common sense that some fashion trends do

Going Braless… Top shelf dress tips

Going Braless… Top shelf dress tips I need help fast. I'm going to an evening wedding. I bought a dress I really love but, I cannot wear a bra with it. I am large up top and want to know - do you have to be "perfect" to go braless. I need a confidence booster. (La Mesa, CA) Sweetie, It sound like it's not a confidence booster that you need, but a bust booster! Going without a bra takes a certain type of breast- one that stands pert and proud. But, not necessarily like two cantaloupes that catapulted out of the plastic surgeons office and landed right onto your chest cavity either. Just, not droopy. Remember Gwenyth at the 2002

Pleather Weather…Tips for buying fake leather

Pleather Weather…Tips for buying fake leather I've been seeing some fake leather jackets in the stores and I'm not quite sure about them. They cost a lot less than animal hide, but I'm not convinced that they look like the real thing. Do you have any tips for choosing faux leather with a more realistic appearance? (Streamwood, IL) Technology has finally caught up with leather imposters and in some cases you'd be hard pressed to tell the imitations from the real thing- particularly when it comes to stretch "leather". If the vinyl that you're considering has a cheesy vibe, move on… there are plenty of better options out there. Typically, pleather tends to have more of a shine and a

Ranch Dressing… Western style, how to get it right

Ranch Dressing… Western style, how to get it right Okay, I have a body that's basically a mass between my bust (which isn't small) and waist and a fairly long set of legs for my large-boned, 5' 4 1/2" frame. Most of the time I'm in blue jeans as most cowgirls are in Texas. I need some things western but sophisticated to build a more career-like wardrobe. What do you suggest I start buying besides denim, gingham, and calico? (Haltom City, TX) Whoa, gingham and calico!?! Sweetie, there's great western and bad western. Summoning up an Elly May fantasy when you aren't built like Miss Clampett and it's not a Beverly Hillbillies theme party, is simply not a good thing!

What is STYLE? Fashion and Romance, closer than you think

Is it the norm to have one style? Recently, I was dating this guy who made the comment, "you haven't found your style yet". I responded that my style is eclectic, meaning that I'm comfortable in a mini skirt, blue jeans, or a suit. I don't like being predictable in my attire nor do I want to be conservative all the time. Am I missing something here? Is it the norm to have one style? I obviously didn't understand the undertone of his statement, but he is not an expert in style. Help!!! Thanks for your time. (Pompano Beach) Hopefully you aren't missing this boob of a boyfriend. Thank the high priestess of all things fabulous that you had the

Over the Knee Boots… The runway trend that rides high

I am 5 feet tall and Asian. My husband of 10 years loves to see me wearing boots. He prefers boots that are thigh high or knee high. I am a bit shy. He likes to see me either in tight pants tucked into the boots or wearing a mini skirt to show off the boots. I'm afraid of being misinterpreted for "something else". Is there a solution for this? I love my husband and would like to please him. Also, given my height, is this form of dressing appropriate to make me look taller? Thanks for helping!!! (Gilbert, AZ) The independent feminist in me wants to tell you that when it comes to dress you should please yourself before

Wedding Guest Jitters… How to Dress to Make It Through the Microscope Test

My boyfriend is the best man at his brother's wedding next week. We are both previously divorced. It will be the first time I meet many of his family (we have traveled to Florida to meet his parents and other siblings.) I've not yet met the bride or groom. It is a Saturday evening wedding in Chicago. I expect it to be classy, but not stuffy. The rehearsal dinner is at an art gallery with the typical wine and cheese. I have several questions about things that I'm a teeny bit nervous about! Attire:I thought a simple black dress would be fine, as I'm not anything special in this wedding. When I said that to his mother (a very dear
