Behind the Scenes at Alexander McQueen- The Beauty, the Splender, the Drama

"I was thinking about a woman as an object of desire. We go to such lengths to adorn ourselves that we almost become our clothes or are taken over by them. This is a collection about excess - an exploration of ideals of beauty at their most extreme." - Sarah Burton, Creative Director of Alexander McQueen How often do we have the rare chance to be mesmerized by the beauty and intimacy of a collection so magical? Sit back and inhale the luxury of this exclusive backstage footage of Sarah Burton and the Alexander McQueen team preparing for the Spring/Summer 2012 runway show during Paris Fashion Week-captured in a short film created by filmmaker Sean Frank. Leg Work- Spring 2012’s Best Footwear -Celine, Dries Van Noten, Rochas, Yves Saint Laurent

After seasons of major statement making shoes with mind-boggling heel heights and preposterous ornamentation, we're really feeling the simplicity of the footwear options we saw on the runways for next spring. That's not to say that footwear has been reduced to the simplistic and merely functional, quite the contrary indeed. From YSL's shielded heeled loafers to Rochas' mirrored slides, there were plenty of options out there to lift your wardrobe's potential and your spirits too.  Here's a look at the statement makers for next spring that caught our eye... >> MORE: FASHION SHOWS AND RUNWAY REVIEWS Yves Saint Laurent (and above) With heeled loafers making the top of our footwear lists this current season and for that matter, the past few season's as well, YSL's

In the Details- Fresh Spring Ideas at Paris Fashion Week You Shouldn’t Miss

After a month+ of consecutive international fashion shows, it can be hard to not only remember what we've seen, but to get a second to glance at all of the astonishing details seems sadly unlikely. That being said, we wanted to take a moment and look back at everything one could easily miss. Here's a look at our favorite elements from all of the Paris shows starting with Rochas' angular techno take on 50's starlet glamor as seen above.  >> MORE: FASHION SHOWS AND RUNWAY REVIEWS Valentino The espadrille, a classic summer stand-by, got an ultra-chic re-thinking chez Valentino via delicate and forever feminine sheer lace. Alexander McQueen Off The Runway, an Illustrated Look for Spring 2012

Alexander McQueen Spring - Summer 2012 look 2 by Michalis Christodoulou
Sarah Burton, creative director of Alexander McQueen, offered a truly inspiring collection for Spring/Summer 2012 and in our books, one of the most exciting shows during Paris Fashion Week. MORE: FASHION SHOWS AND RUNWAY REVIEWS As Burton said, the collection was an exploration of ideas of beauty at their most extreme and women as objects of desire. Models had beautifully veiled eyes and expertly lace-bound heads, which immediately triggered my inspiration for illustrating some of the looks. Featuring skirt suits, dresses with translucent chiffon and embroidered lace beneath caged corsets and wide cummerbund belts, narrow skirts pulled in tight under shapely moulded jackets and dresses that encased the bodies in gold and silver ripples, most of the 34 piece strong collection was

In their words... Chloé Spring/Summer 2012 In her first season for Chloé, Creative Director Clare Waight Keller considered the mood of the Chloé girl and discovered a multitude of feminine personalities that define the brand. "I looked at festival girls, girls on the street and David Bailey’s photos of Marie Helvin and Anjelica Huston on a beach," says Keller. "There’s a sense of feminine complicity, sensitivity and sunniness in this collection." Powdery pastels, makeup shades with nudes and pinks and soft bright accents define Chloé’s spring palette. The attitude is confident, but charming

LOUIS VUITTON HOMME | AUTUMN-WINTER 2011-2012 For Louis Vuitton's Autumn-Winter 2011-2012 collection, Men's Studio Director Paul Helbers, under the artistic direction of Marc Jacobs, has explored the ultra simplified elegance of Amish style and instilled it with a hint of strangeness, inspired by David Lynch. Describing this unique pairing of Amish design elements with Lynchian overtones, Helbers evokes an «unworldly boy wanderer» as he discovers America. «We have gone back to cut and construction which is why this collection is almost all black to emphasize shape and technique. Best of Paris Fashion Week- Fall 2011 from Balenciaga, Chloe, Miu Miu, Rick Owens, Carven

Runway Review Snippets: Our top 5 from Paris are Balenciaga, Chloe, Miu Miu, Rick Owens, CarvenParis Fashion Week, as always is the most directional of cities when it comes to silhouettes and attitudes. This season, without exception, the Parisian runways offered a dramatic shift in form to a more oversized, almost cocoon shape and many with strong exaggerated shoulders. A shape that is strikingly visual on the runway and may need some modifying for the everyday woman not to appear bulky.>> MORE: Fashion Shows and Runway ReviewsThere's a very distinct shift in shapes that you should note, both for next fall, and what you can scout on on the racks now. House of Dior Homage Exhibition for Paris Fashion Week

Retail Remedy: Le Bon Marché in Paris showcases the Eternellement Dior We know how much Richard Nahem loves the Paris that he shares in his walking tours, and he will be tipping FocusOnStyle during Paris Fashion Week. Designer John Galliano has been certainly in the news this week for his rather horrific alleged comments caught on a cell phone video. I've been interviewed a bit for my opinion on this and, based on what I have seen thus far, personally support the House of Dior in its termination of the designer as its creative director in the wake of this situation. You can see the video on The Sun, here. Le Bon Marche Rive Gauche, a major Parisian department store
