Best of Milan Fashion Week- D&G, Jil Sander, Moschino, Prada – Spring 2012

As per usual, from New York collections one can expect pragmatic sportswear(the kind that doesn't often reinvent the wheel, maybe just spins it), from London one can expect out-of-this-world, well executed propositions and from Milan; riotous colors, bold adornments and brilliant uses of technological advancements in fabrications. And with that being said, Milanese designers did not disappoint. We saw a large variety of finessed, retro-inspired options full of energy, enticing plays on print and a generous dose of giddy sex appeal. Here's a look at our favorite outings from the season in Milan. Silvio Liu Spring 2011 NYFW Collection brims with sweet and feminine party dresses

Runway Review: Definitely a designer to watch emerge, as it's the first collection and with experience the collections will grow and develop. This tiny capsule of dresses with bursts of coral and watercolor florals is the first women's collection for Silvio Liu, showcased here at Merecedes-Benz Fashion Week. The spring cocktail dresses were chic silhouettes on their own, the light palette was refreshing, but I saw a few key details that didn't sit with the collection. Silvio Liu- Spring 2011 Collection >> Fashion Shows and Runway Reviews The fit and tailoring was perfect and created a flattering feminine look on all the dresses, but I wasn't too keen on the cropped boxy jackets that covered a few of them. Julian Louie Fall 2010 New York Fashion Week at Milk Studios

Runway Review: This outing highlighted Louie's knack for creating clothes that are distinctive yet grounded in reality Amidst a fun & energetic Friday at Milk Studios with stellar presentations everywhere you turned, Julian Louie's short film screening of Ukrainian model Jules Mordovets was set in a serene if not hyper-bourgeois setting, complete with a mannequin resting on a gilt settee in full-on Charles James inspired regalia. Were we in for heavy and baroque from a designer that's been working laid-back sophistication with an uncompromising ease and cool hand? Thankfully, this wasn't the case as this outing highlighted Louie's knack for creating clothes that are distinctive yet grounded in reality. NY Fashion Week: Rebecca Taylor fashion show review

REBECCA TAYLOR | Runway Fall 2009 Collection-Mercedes Benz Fashion Week… A warm colored presentation of feminine pieces mixed with some edge and balanced with an air of innocence best describes the Rebecca Taylor fashion show for fall 2009. I picture these pieces on a cute, mousy girl at an art gallery opening sipping red wine, a little bit quirky, very creative and intuitive, she stares at the art with question but really she is wondering why Wendy ever left Neverland. >> More Mercedes Benz Fashion Week photos of the Rebecca Taylor fashion show The soft, warm colors are a nice relief after a lot of black and grey and they are matched with blue tights or socks and smudged blue

NY Fashion Week: Lela Rose fashion show review

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week- Lela Rose, Fall 2009 Collection… Finally a show with color to keep our recession spirits up and remind women that party attire should indeed be fun. There is also a fantastic play of texture - chunky woven tweeds with a hint of metallic, shiny silks mixed with sequins, flowing silk chiffon as well as stiff and shiny satin. The shimmer caught everyone’s eye, nothing was flat and it allowed for a lot of movement when on the body. The ombre coloring had a modern romantic effect especially on the pieces that had ombre color stripes from sequins. Please, Say It Isn’t So…

No Acid Washed Jeans! Please say it isn't so, the return of the acid washed jean. Oooohmoigawd! You just knew it was bound to happen one day. Someone, somewhere, somehow would revive the tackiest fashion fad of all time, acid washed jeans. Not to mention, the early Eighties style du jour-- super-skinny legs that zip up the ankle (how else can you get your foot into them?) and slashed all over the place. Don't forget that they are worn with white high heel pumps. Aw come on, you remember all those jokes about mall girls lollygagging around in them, don't you? Well, they're baaaaaaack!!!!! D&G just rocked the acid washed dolls out on the Milan runway for Fall 2001. Here's
