Jean Paul Gaultier Furniture Sweetens Up Paris Elle Decor Suite

Love the crazy way Jean Paul Gaultier put his signature nautical stripes on wacky, cool furniture For the last two years Elle Decor has selected a fashion designer to decorate the former apartment of Jacques Carlu at the Cité de Architecture. This year the chosen is Jean Paul Gaultier, proceeding Christian Lacroix and Martin Margiela. Jean Paul Gaultier has brought his usual whimsical and sometimes kitschy style to the 2,400 sq. ft. space atop the museum. >> Home Style SHOPPING Guide Sort of an optical illusion Enter the vestibule and you find his signature marine blue and white stripes covering the walls and furniture but the stripes are askew in certain spots making it an optical illusion. Lushness abounds In

Fashion, Italian Style. Fernanda Gattinoni Couture from Sexpots of the 50’s and 60’s

Fernanda Gattinoni dresses from 1950's -1960's for Italian screen legend Anna Magnani, who was known for her smoldering sexuality and ability to be "real;" I could even forgive Magnani's hairy armpits. You know your guy friend is playing for the other team when he is as excited about these old movie star dresses as you! If I could live in any other time, I would have to say it would be in the 1950's to 1960 in Rome, on the via Veneto. Fernanda Gattinoni for Kim Novak I would be an a hourglass vixen, with heavy eyeliner, a hot temper and smoldering sexuality in a Maserati convertible with a death-defyingly sexy man by my side. Marcello Mastroianni would be on

Looking Like Your Dog Is So Chic in Paris

A mademoiselle and her pooch in Paris Only in Paris when you look like your dog, it will be chic! I know I will get an argument by dog lovers from other places (particularly from Sharon and her love of French poodles), but I say no one loves their dogs more than Parisians. I back up my statement with the fact that dogs are allowed almost anywhere in Paris- at the butcher, the baker, restaurants, the metro, parks, art galleries, food shops, boutiques, and dog grooming salons. >> SHOP: Need to be discreet? The Perfect Gift to Bring Back from Paris

Look no further for some gift ideas that brim with Paris chic. Richard Nahem who designs custom walking tours of Paris helps a reader receive the perfect gift from Paris! Question: I have a fairly wealthy male friend who lives in Paris and Deauville, as well as Andorra. He is coming to visit in three weeks and wants to know what I want him to bring me from France. I don't want him to choose clothes for me, for obvious reasons-- what does he know and will it fit? What would be something totally cool that I could ask him to bring that not your typical girl from Kentucky would have? Scarf? Handbag? I just wanted to know what the

Paris Fashion Week: Aganovich Spring / Summer 2010

London Meets Paris: The odd mannequins and use of sculpture surrounding them gave the showing of the collection another dimension somewhere in between art and fashion. The Aganovich Spring / Summer 2010 Collection was artfully shown at a contemporary gallery in the trendy Marais section of Paris. What I love about the collection is the thoughtfulness and intelligence that went into each garment. A mix of fabrics such as pique and linen, and linen and satin are so smart and wearable. Looking closely I could see how well tailored every piece was and how the draping flowed so seamlessly. The presentation using odd mannequins and use of sculpture surrounding them gave the showing of the collection another dimension somewhere in

Paris Fashion Week: Gareth Pugh Spring / Summer 2010

A cool mix of Star Wars meets goth with androgynous models whose faces were painted in pale gray and eyes lined in red Paris Fashion Week kicked off last week and I was delighted to see one of the hottest and most coveted spring summer 2010 shows from the designer Gareth Pugh. Gareth Pugh is a young, bold designer coming into his own who was a protege of the uber edgy Rick Owens, the American designer living in Paris . The show was a cool mix of Star Wars meets goth with androgynous models whose faces were painted in pale gray and eyes lined in red. >> Read our complete runway reviews The Cher- like feather head dresses and the
