Style Wizz-Philippe Starck and Duravit Create a Museum-Worthy Urinal

On view at WaterDream: the Art of Bathroom Design, at the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA). Who knew that a loo could be so cool?Well, I do as I have a Phillipe Starck toilet in two of our bathrooms in New York.But a urinal, and one that's museum worthy too?Through September 17, Duravit and Starck will be on display as part of a popular exhibit entitled WaterDream: the Art of Bathroom Design, mounted at the newly relocated Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA).What caught my eye are the three sleek Architec High Efficiency Urinals (HEUs) in the public Men's Room of the museum.

Home Style- French Furniture House Taillardat Adds a Fashion Touch to Marie Antoinette, Louis XV, Louis XVI, Empire and Directoire pieces

You all must know that I cannot possibly imagine living in a home without the benefit of having something beautiful to look at and inspire by way of its furniture. For me, in particular, the chair can take so many artistic and creative forms that I wish I could collect as many as my other obsession- shoes and boots!>>MORE: Home StyleI've almost run out of any possible space to add another "interesting" chair in our loft, so I've come to admire from afar, particularly ones that have a different design aesthetic from my home. Richard Nahem, who has a pretty fab pad in Paris, came across this incredible melding of design and fashion with classic high-end furniture reproductions on one of his Parisian walking tours.Both Richard and I love La Fumeuse, pictured left, and we don't even smoke! It's a hot pink velvet "smoking chair," complete with with cigarette box by fashion designer Chantal Thomass. The chair is made of black varnished beechwood and nickel plated nails and fabric by Pierre Frey. Here's what more of what he found –S.H.Taillardat is a manufacturer specializing in luxurious high-quality reproductions of 18th century furniture including Marie Antoinette, Louis XV, Louis XVI, Empire, and Directoire styles.

Rick Owens Furniture As Art Still On View at Salon 94 with Pavane for a Dead Princess

Pavane for a Dead Princess, is Rick Owens’ first presentation of furniture design in the United StatesRick Owens’ design vision melds archaism with modernism, brutal beauty with uncompromising luxury, whether in his collectible cool chic clothes or sterling foray into home design.Inspiration not to be missed: In an Inspired by French composer Maurice Ravel’s composition for solo piano written in 1899 and presented by Salon 94 and Rudy Weissenberg, the centerpiece of the bedroom interior by Rick Owens is a towering Spanish alabaster headboard above a low-lying bed, a monumental composition that dominates the room.20th century icons, Le Corbusier, Luigi Moretti, and Donald Judd are referenced in Owens’ furniture design. His concept for a total domestic environment echoes those championed by Jean Michel Frank and Pierre Chareau.
