Dear Sharon: I get confused at what to wear when I have appointments all over town and getting ready for work gets complicated. I wish for the days of a classic uniform, like school but a stylish one of course!

I recently bought a black short, off-the-shoulder dress. It is body-hugging until the hips and then has a balloon skirt until the knees. I later realized on that I am not very comfortable wearing an off-shoulder style. Can you suggest a jacket type or coverup that I can wear with this dress and in what color or pattern? Basic black becomes beautiful black when it’s worn in the right French Chic way…
It’s funny how there are photos of us that almost instantly look dated and others that have timeless perfection. What we are wearing plays a huge part in what sustains looking chic and vital rather than overdone and garish.
Take for instance, the style power and endurance of perennially black clad Juliette Binoche and Malgorzarta Szumowska pictured here.

Another Sunday, another awards show.
The Screen Actor’s Guide Awards is a bit different from the rest because attending actors don’t try to ridiculously outdo on another as with the Oscars, or add the extra zing as with the Golden Globes.
The SAG Awards is as low-key as a red carpet can get, and with that comes some of the most elegant, prettiest dresses that don’t ‘wear’ the wearer… in other words, more class, less …Published on January 30, 2012

Ultra-cute actress Jaime King donned one of the most playful little-black-dresses that we’ve seen on the red carpet in a long while at the 16th annual GQ “Men Of The Year” party last week in Los Angeles.
In basic black, the dress’s flouncy a-line hem, graphic embroidery and peek-a-boo bust-line go well with King’s simple make-up and elegant, sleek hair for a look that’s full of grown-up energy.

I’ll Have What She’s Having: Streamlined and bold slits in just the right places
There’s something about actress Eva Green‘s smart sexiness that reminds us of the raw style of Italian actresses back in the 1950′s via Veneto days. It’s a control over non-fussiness and an emphasis on dynamic sex appeal and sultriness, best mastered in sleek, non revealing lines.
Case in point: Eva’s on trend, but not trendy, double-slit …Published on November 08, 2011
