Fashion’s Night Out from Giorgio Armani to Brad Boles

“The fabulousness never ends…Brad and Sharon having no shame taking their own photo at Valentino Dear Diary: Fashion’s Night Out started out as a must-see stop for me at the Giorgio Armani boutique to hear a special reading by Rosie O’Donnell from “Love, Loss, and What I Wore,” a new play by Nora Ephron and Della Ephron, based on the book by Ilene Beckerman. The evening instead turned into my own version of loving, loss, and what I wore!As I’m trying to find a cab (again), who comes trotting by but Brad Boles?! You may know him from the “The Real Housewives of New York.” But Brad and I go way back.Once upon a time a million and a half years ago when I was a fashion stylist, Brad and I would be booked as a team. I was the stylist, he did makeup, and North Rebis did hair when Brad didn’t do both. There was cast of other fashionable characters too who you probably know, but we’ll save that for another time. There was also lot’s of hijinks on the set and super fun nights out with some rather hilarious photos to prove it. Luckily, the bewigged photo of Brad and I here was from the excuse of a rather glamorous Halloween circa 1985.”

Beauty Tip: Loose Powder Cleans up Eye Shadow

Fashion Week beauty prep to stay pretty all day long…Beauty Tip: Use a generous amount of loose powder under your eyes before applying your eye shadow. Looking for a time saving tip to keep your makeup fresh and fabulous for Fashion Week?Use a generous amount of loose powder under your eyes before applying your eye shadow. Now you don’t have to worry about your eye shadow sprinkling under your eyes and becoming messy when you try to clean it up when you apply eye shadow. The trick is that the shadow will fall right on top of the loose powder and when you have finished applying your eye makeup, you will see that when you lightly dust away the loose powder, the excess shadow dusts right off with the powder without a mess.Ta-da!You have perfect eyes. To add a highlighting effect, use loose powder that is a shade lighter than your own complexion. — Rukiya Jeffers

I’ll Have What She’s Having: Rashida Jones and the strong red lip

“Red lipstick at the ready… how to rock ruby lips for summer and all year round…Rashida Jones – “Funny People” World PremiereIn this economy, we’re big on finding something small that makes a major and lasting impact on your style. And a tube of ruby red lipstick may just do the glam trick!Case in point: The very glam and very understated chic of Rashida Jones pictured here. No frou-frou Hollywood fussiness for her. Just all the right things that make a simple look sizzle.Rashida’s strong ruby red lips are the focal point , not a distraction to her beauty. Simple, undone pulled back hair, a natural bronzey glow, black lashes, and that vibrant pow of a very strong red lip! That’s all she needs to make a statement. And that’s something that you should consider in your beauty arsenal. When you wear bold makeup– like red lipstick– that should be the one attention maker on your face. No weirdo orange fake tan, no excess of eye makeup, not side swiped by the blush van, no gimmicky hair. It’s all about the lips, that’s it. Elegant beauty is something that you can look back on in time and still find attractive, not garish and dated. Think about it. less is more when it comes to looking gorgeous and Rashida Jones nailed it! So should you too.Red Lipstick Shopping Guide:”

The Makeup Junkie: Can’t Live Without Cosmetics

The Five Most Essential Beauty Items…blushHow well do you remember the movie THE BREAKFAST CLUB?At the end of the movie Molly Ringwald takes Ally Sheedy into the ladies’ room, and with just a few handy cosmetics turns Ally from misanthrope into girl next door. . .Well, I think that scene defined my point of view on beauty. Sure, sometimes I want something more dramatic, but for a basic, classy, presentable look, really all I need is five things (and you’ll see in a moment, for a basic, basic look, all I need is two).(Disclaimer: Now I am certainly not saying that a person needs makeup to look beautiful, in fact there are some lucky women who need none at all. I have never been that woman.)

Beauty Tips: Blush for a cheeky flush

Do not fear the Blush…Blush applicationOk, here’s the skinny on blush… People tend to fall into two categories when it comes to wearing just the right amount of blush: none and none!A bit of blush can take you from appearing sickly to snazzy in just a few seconds. Going paleface is especially important at this time of year when a little flush of warm cheeks is just the beauty picker-upper that you need. You cannot help but notice the women who wear an overload of cheek color that makes them look like they escaped from the circusa
