Pleasingly Pleated

I'm not always a fan of "big" dresses, and glittery shoes typically look a few seasons back for me. But put it altogether on Marion Cotillard and the result is sublime. Styled by the wrong hands, a plisse pleated dress like this can be overwhelming. But the simplicity and ease of Cotillard's hair, makeup, and confidence make this Dior Haute Couture look stellar. Another lesson learned in that it's not what you wear but how you wear it.  More from the best of Cannes Do Chic series to help you get it together with ease. Golden Globes Fashion- Red Carpet Best, Worst and why you should make sense of this

Monday morning quarterback time.  It's time to reflect what really stood out-- in both a good and eeech way-- from last night's Golden Globes fashion from the red carpet. If you followed my gut reaction Golden Globes Live Tweets, you have a pretty keen idea of my take on this.  I have a hard time ohhing and ahhing when a trussed up actor is schilling for a big designer and caught up in the "fabulousness" of it all without taking her personal attributes in consideration. If you don't wear something that is organic to your style, figure, type, or the TV cameras it shows, big time. >>MORE: Red Carpet Fashion & Beauty No matter how fantastic a dress may look on

Printemps Paris Holiday Windows- Dior & Marion Cotillard, absolument!

Printemps Paris Holiday Windows
Retail Remedy: The world of Dior for the holidays. Richard Nahem continues to bring us his tour of  Paris Holiday Windows I adore the Printemps windows this year but I have a slight problem with them. As fun and imaginative as they are, they symbolize promoting a brand rather than the spirit of Christmas. The windows are devoted to the Dior brand and their logo and name is bluntly splashed everywhere. As much as they appealed to me, I think tiny tots and kids will be disappointed. >>MORE: Holiday Style  and Dior Printemps Paris Holiday Windows Enough of my grandstanding and back to why I LOVE the windows. They harken back to the original Dior New Look from 1947 with 74 handcrafted dolls/poupettes dressed in Dior haute couture and are hand

Tilda Swinton poses at the "Moonrise Kingdom" photocall during the 65th Annual Cannes Film Festival
I'll Have What She's Having: Sophisticated dusty pale colors that never scream juvenile You must know that I'm not a fan of grown up women wearing baby pastels... in one wrong wimpy shade, you instantly take a hit to your personal power right down to that of  a kid. >>> MORE: Do you need more style inspiration?
