FIRST LOOK- Ports 1961 SPRING 2012 FASHION AD CAMPAIGN

Ports 1961 has come a long way since it's humble, arty re-introduction to the high-fashion masses over the past decade and the label's just released new ad campaign featuring a slick Alana Zimmer photographed by Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin with art direction by Giovanni Bianco proves just how far they've come when considering their big league competition. Under Giovanni Bianco's watch, the last few collections and campaigns have successfully captured that elusive, urbane minded cool that the label once seemed so intent on courting. Now they've become ones to watch and kudos to Ports 1961 for that remarkable accomplishment. -Naveed Hussain >>More: Spring 2012 Ad Campaigns

Runway Review: The highlight display of artfully draped garments was the palette of smooth, warm neutrals with shocking flashes of color The color palette was brimming with Spring Fever, and soft fabrics were in full flow at the Ports 1961 Spring 2011 show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. “New York is the thing that formed me; New York is the thing that deformed me...” Patti Smith Runway Review: Rock icon Patti Smith was the style inspiration for the knockout Ports 1961 Pre-Spring 2011 collection by Tia Cibani. For anyone who has not had the amazing experience of seeing Smith perform live, particularly in a small venue, you are truly missing out on a brilliant force of music, poetry, and performance. From the days of being called the "Godmother of Punk, " to her riveting early album covers photographed by Robert Mapplethorpe, Patti Smith does it on her terms. NY Fashion Week: Ports 1961 Spring / Summer 2010

Quietly gorgeous, beautifully designed pieces that are right on the money for her many many followers The invite to Tia Cibani's Ports 1961 s/s 2010 rtw show, which she entitled "Fleure" - was an accordion folded geisha's fan and it stood out in a sea of heavy card stock and virtual invites. Maybe it was a little literal, too easy a hint at what was to come, but it worked. And when the lights went down and then up, a nice hushed energy filled the room. The models seemed to radiate from a shadowy zen garden. Cibani invited 2 amazingly talented craftsmen to help realize her take on Japonisme: Julia Lundsten the designer of Finsk - whose moulded stingray pumps

NY Fashion Week: Ports 1961 fashion show review

PORTS 1961| Runway Fall 2009 Collection-Mercedes Benz Fashion Week… Inspired by exotic India the Ports 1961 fall 2009 collection was beaming with rich color, luxe fabrications, metallics and attention to the tiny details in accessories and overall construction. The fashion show theme was set on the runway with a delightful live band playing lively middle eastern music while the models walked. The models’ eyes were lined with dark kohl pencil and their hair was tied in a very tousled, romantic braid - this overall setting created a warm and exotic mood, taken away to India! >> See our complete runway coverage and fashion show photos The clothing was had a modern take on tradition with some of the cuts, the
